Maddison's POV
I walk into my house of a familiar echoing voice across the house the house was empty.
"Mom?" I yell across the house.
"Oh honey, what are you doing home?" She says pulling me into a tight hug.
I did miss her a lot. She was the one who would calm me down in problems like I am now. I just needed her. You don't realize what you need the most, when it's gone.
"What happen to the house? Where is everything?" I say hugging back.
"Well, it was going to be a surprise. But my new job has been paying me really good money. I found a house in Los Angeles it's gorgeous. So I thought because you are finishing up school online, it would be perfect for you to start your career." I nod.
"Okay let's go." She adds.
I walk to the door, and it was empty. The memories of me as a child scanned thought my head. My childhood was gone. Teenage years almost gone. Cameron gone. Prom gone. Friends gone. Maybe starting in a new town wasn't so bad. I needed a new start, and that's just what I am going to do.
//
I reach the house. She wasn't kidding. It was huge, and beautiful. I scan the front, and walk inside. A hall way leading into a beautiful kitchen, and then large dinner room. You turn and a there was a the living room. I walk up stairs. There was a sign, 'Maddie's Room'. I walk in.
The wall painted a off white. A tribal print blanket hung behind my bed. White bed sheets, and white bed. A nice new vanity hold all my makeup, and hair supplies. A navy blue rug lays in the middle of my room. Lights around the rim of my ceiling. God it was perfect. I walk to what I thought was a closet but a bathroom appeared as I opened the door. I walk to slide doors, and a closet full of all my clothes. I gasp. This is perfect. A desk sat in the corner with a new MacBook Air. I smile. I open the top draw and there laid a brand new Canon camera. I spin around. My mom was in the door way.
"Mom this is too much!" I say hugging her tight.
"You deserve it. Maddie's I don't know if I would be the same person without you." She whispers.
"And I can say the same."
"I love you."
"I love you too."
"Come on, I ordered Chinese food."
//
After we ate, and watch a full season of American Horror Stories. My mom turns toward me.
"Why did you come home? Don't lie." She says.
I stop and choke.
"Mom-"
"No Maddie. I want to know. I won't care it's boring here. I just want to know."
I stop, and thought about.
"Well when we arrived in Toronto, everyone went swimming. But I wasn't feeling it. But earlier in the week Cameron was been hiding his phone from me, as if there is something on it. I went in his room to get something. And some girl he hooked up with texted him, saying she misses him come visit Florida soon. Then it hit me. It hit me." I say slowing down my words. I swallowed me tears.
"He had hooked up with girl when I was in the hospital. But before Cameron dated Olivia, he dated, and hooked up with everyone. I also realized people only change temporary. And don't stick to there choice of words." I stop and look down. I fidget with my fingers.
"Honey I'm so sorry." She says.
"But I want to start new here."
"Okay, but you cannot change your name." She assures me. I nod.
"I want to dye my hair. Blonde." She nods her head.
"Okay. Fair enough."
"Alright I'm going to head to bed."
We exchange goodnight, and I walk upstairs. I change into my pajamas, and slide into bed. I felt empty. Something was missing. I shake off the pain, and slowly drift to sleep.
"Maddison you are so oblivious!" He yells at me.
"Cam I think you should leave!" I yell back.
"Why? You push people away who care for you. Let me stay, and help you."
"I DONT NEED YOUR HELP, AND I DONT NEED YOU!" I scream. He thinks everything can be okay. Like nothing happened.
"Maddie please." He pleaded.
"Cameron I lost my prom, my school, friends, and myself because of you. I can't keep going on like this. Now you need to leave."
And just like that he was gone.
I jump up, and my breathing picking up the paste. Thank god it was a dream. But what did it mean. Cameron's gone. But he didn't leave me. I left, because i couldn't handle the stupid lying, and sneaking. I look at the clock. 8:30. Oh.
I laid there. I felt weak, and alone. It sucks when you need someone the most, they are never there. I was so stupid to leave, but he was the stupider for acting that way.
"Ahhhhhhh!" I scream.
I get up, and walk down stairs. There was a note on the counters
'Morning Maddie,
I scheduled you a hair appointment at 9:00. I'm went to work, and won't be home till late. Be safe, and I love you.
-mom.'
"CRAP!" I yell.
I run up stairs, and get dressed. I grab my car keys, wallet, phone and sprint out the door.
//
When I reach the salon, I open the door, and a bell rings as I push it open.
"Hi do you have an appointment?" The lady behind the counter asks.
"Yeah. Maddison?" I ask not knowing the name she put it under.
"Great follow me."
I sit down in the black chair.
"What can I do for you today?"
"I wanna dye my hair blonde, and trim it just a little. Also eyebrows fix up."
"Sounds great!" She says and smiles.
//
The chair spins toward the mirror. Wow. Who was I? Just than I knew what I was going to do.
"Where is the closes piercing place?" I ask her.
"Down the street. It's call purple scorpion." She smiles, and I get up and leave.
