Chapter Nine

Maddison's POV

I wake up, grab my phone and look at the time.

6:15 pm!

I jump up, and walk down stairs. Gina wasn't home, and I didn't see Cameron.

"Cameron?" I yell across the house.

I walk out onto to Cam's porch. He was leaning over the banister.

"Cam?" I say as I approach him.

He turns around unaware I was there. He stops, and looks between the cigarette in his hands, and me. I was mad, Cam told me he had quit.

"I thought you quit?"

"I did, this is just one." He says.

It was weird, because people normally smoke when they are stressed. I was unsure of the situation, and just shook my head.

"Okay. But I better get going, my mom probably wondering where I am. And plus I have to babysit tomorrow morning, to make some extra cash." I say, he turns around.

"You need a ride huh?" He asks, I nod.

He walks toward me, but the strong sent of his cigarette made me cough. We walk toward the front door. Then hop into the car, and drive to my house. But as we where driving, I stared at Cam. He clenches his jaw as if he was upset. I notice he gently places his hand on my thigh. The surprise of his touch make me jump a little. I quickly relaxed, and his touch made me feel safe. See with Cameron he leaves you wondering, if this is really even real. Maybe I was in love with him, but couldn't let him know. He quickly looked over at me. He parted his lips as if he was going to say something, but stopped.

We reach my house, and I open the car door. I look at him, I give him a quick peck on the check, but as I began to move out of the car, and grabs my attention, and turns my head and kisses my lips.

"I love you Maddison." He says as his eyes began getting watery which catches me by surprise.

I pause for a moment, if I say I love him back, it takes things to a different level. I have never felt love before Cameron, and that in fact told me even more that I indeed did love this boy.

"I love you too." I whisper back, and hop out of the car.

Later that night after dinner I walked up stairs, and slipped on a over sized black and white flannel, grey high knee socks, and put my hair in a messing bun. I sit on my bed with tea, and a open book 'Looking For Alaska'. My phone rings, and I reach over and grab it. Cameron was FaceTiming me.

"Hey babe. What's up?" I ask.

"Maddie baby, I'm sorry." He says, but I could tell he had a couple drinks in him.

"For what?" I ask. There was a long pause.

A loud high pitched voice came across the phone line. Olivia's face comes across the screen.

"So what Cam is trying to say it, on the second day of school Cam began to flirt with you. Correct?" I nod

"Well me and him made a deal, I would pay him money for him to make you fall in love with him, so when he breaks the truth to you, like now it hurts. He was faking all of it. But now it's all good, Cameron and I are back together. Plus it was pay back from you taking Josh. Thank you!" She says and smiles.

The phone is handed back to Cameron, his pale face comes across the screen. But as soon as I saw his face I end the call. I threw my phone across the room. I was in so much pain, I didn't cry, or move. First off, I didn't take Josh from her. Josh liked me, and we never dated. But that was 9th grade. Second, earlier today...Today Cameron told me he loved me, but he was almost in tears, as if he knew it was coming.

I gently lay my head on my pillow, I lay there. My mind wonders, and the tears began to form.
Why would he do that? Did he really fall in love with me, or was it just to make the break up more painful? I get up, and slip on my light brown moccasins. I walk outside and of course it was raining, I walk across the street to Jacks house. I gently knock on the door knowing Jack was awake. As soon as he opens the door I fall into his arms in tears.

"Come inside Mad." He says and leads me inside.

"Let's go upstairs, my mom is sleeping on the couch." He takes me hand, and leads me up stairs.

Jacks house was huge, and welcoming. I remember when Jack and I where little, because his house was so huge we would play hid and seek, and we hid in crawl space. He was my first kiss, when I was 8. I liked Jack for the longest time, but high school came, and we didn't talk much. But I know when I need him, he is always there.

"What's wrong?" He says wiping away my tears.

"Well it is a long story." I say with a sigh.

"I've got time."

"Well, earlier today Cameron was dropping me off at my house. And as I was leaving his car and he dropped the L bomb on me. An I stupidly said it back." I pause.

"Do you love him?" He says.

"I mean I thought I did."

"Well anyway. Cameron hours later face timed me. He was a little tipsy, or maybe a lot. He was with Olivia at a party." I swallow my tears, and continue.

"She told me this whole time Cam and I where dating. He was faking it. Now Cam and Olivia are dating." I look at Jack, and he was white.

"Oh my god. Mad you do not deserve that. I'm so sorry. It there any thing I can do? You mean the world to me, and that is just so wrong. I mean especially how he told you he loved you the same day. But Cam was going to send you good news. You're coming to Magcon tour with us, you just have to make sure it's okay with your mom." He says smiling.

God was his smile perfect. But besides the fact Cameron was coming, it could be fun. Especially how my YouTube channel is coming along good. 5,000 subscribers.

"Oh my god really! That's so amazing. I have been keeping up with my YouTube. But if my mom says yes will you make a video with me telling my fans about the tour?" I pause.

"Of course!"

Jack's POV

I listened to Maddie rant. I day dream, she was gorgeous. Her hair in a messy bun, and her cute little socks, up to her curvy body. She was my first kiss, I could never let her go.

"She told me this whole time Cam and I where dating. He was faking it. Now Cam and Olivia are dating." I hear her say. My heart drops

This poor helpless girl, has had her heart shattered in the worst way possible. All I wanted to do, was hug her, but I had to be strong too.
