All the choices Shouta has made, good and bad, it all led up to this. A shit show. It was impossible to structure a sane sentence, without making him sound like he was lying.

His ex wife knows he's been sleeping with someone. How does he explain that he can't see Katsumi anymore without drawing suspicion, all the while wanting to spend more time with her? That he doesn't want her to know this information for her safety and not because he was trying to save his own ass? How the hell does he drill the fact that Sakiya's involvement in all this was nothing more than a petty mind trick of hers, which he had no choice but to play into or else Katsumi would pay the ultimate price? HOW?!

These conflicting thoughts were weighing on him, heavily. If he had any idea how to navigate this, he would've done so, but he was stuck. He needed more time to think, more time to process. To convey a message with this many contradicting points...it wasn't doable.

His face reaped remorse, but he had to say it again. "I can't tell you". Desperation. His aura wreaked of it from how badly he wanted her to understand he couldn't.

He watched Katsumi sit there, speechless from the lack of information. Her eyes scanned his and he knew why. She wasn't the one to take lightly of being denied info, but she had to have known he had a reason.

"You...really aren't gonna tell me, are you?", she sadly caught on. He sighed, knowing this wasn't the best way to end the conversation, but he'd rather this then fill her in to what could be the end of her career. One she worked so hard on. He couldn't be the reason to why it all ended, it would haunt him.

"I'm sorry", he got up, bowing down, to show he was truly apologetic to how this went. Not moving a muscle, Katsumi stared at Shouta. Her world was burning and it was hell.

(Flashback)

Three days ago, Shouta attended his scheduled appointment with Dr. Blanely. He found himself in a complicated spot, needing guidance. She was well to aware of his anxiety, as he came in messing with his knuckles. It's a habit he had, which she'd noticed the first session.

"Good to see you", she smiled. Shouta, in his usual manner, sat down on the uncomfortable couch, getting straight to the point. "I can't be friends with her anymore", he said.

Dr Blanely knew where this was headed, so she grabbed her notes from her previous session with him. "Mhm, I see. That could mean a number of things, so how about you explain what you mean?"

"The woman I've been seeing, I'm concerned that what we did will cause a rift", he confided.

The terminology was awfully familiar. That very word was used in his session yesterday when he was mentioning his constant anxiety. She couldn't help, but notice his other word choice. Concerned. If he were "concerned" that his friendship would rift apart because of them having sex, then why would he claim he doesn't want to stay friends with the woman? It's obvious he wanted to maintain this friendship, so to jump from that to not wanting to keep it, was a big leap.

Dr. Blanely had her theories, but her job was to have Shouta recognize his own thoughts and why they came to be. She tapped against her notes, crossing her legs, "You're saying that your sexual activities with this woman, will break your platonic bond?", she rephrased.

He nodded, which the doctor stared in disbelief. "Shouta, you're worried that your platonic foundation will break, yet you ignore the key component. You and this woman had sex. Now, knowing that, your romantic feelings has already put in a dent"

In no means was she saying this in a bad way. If anything she was coming from a more logical stance. Shouta was all about logic, so she used it to elaborate further. "Having sex with someone who was strictly your friend for years, the relationship style changes. Once those romantic feelings are involved, it breaches boundaries that were set in place for what makes a relationship platonic", she explained.
