(Flashback)
Shouta bit into his snack, watching Katsumi from afar. They were at lunch, with him sitting by his lonesome. Katsumi on the other hand was lingering with what he called the cool crowd. It was the most popular boys and girls in school, to which she referred to as her friends.
She was smiling, giggling, all sorts of stuff with them, causing a jealousy to stir beneath him. He refused to go over and interact, scared that it would bring too much suspicion. He never done it before, so he couldn't start now without curiosity spiking.
He hated how he always thought too hard on things. The constant need to think ahead. He could never just live in the moment, without the judgement of his predicted future. It was emotionally painful and draining.
All this was...it was confusing for him. They just had sex. He was inside her and now he has to act as if everything was normal. How does Katsumi do it? Giggling with those guys, like she wasn't quivering beneath him the night before.
Sho's face twisted, annoyance festering within him like a jealous ex. He got up from the table, walking out, but she saw. Katsumi excused herself from her friends, jogging to Shouta who seemed to be in a mood.
"Shouta! Slow down", she shouted.
He turned around, watching her catch up with him. "What's the rush? We still have 30 minutes left for lunch", she pouted.
"Not hungry. I have chemistry next class, so I think studying will do me more good", a pretty tone underlining his words.
She squinted, going to touch his arm, but he brushed her off. "I gotta go. Don't want to keep you here", he huffed. She wasn't sure what she did to piss him off, but she'd rather he tell her than be an ass about it.
"Are you mad? You were fine this morning", she said. He looked down at her, stuffing his hands in his pockets. There was no need to escalate this. He didn't want to instigate because they had a conversation about what they did not affecting their friendship. He would look like the weakest link if he admitted he was jealous out of his mind right now.
"I'm good", he lied. Katsumi was a little too perceptive to his tells, so she pushed for an answer. "Mhm, so this has nothing to do with-"
"Don't do that", he sighed.
Katsumi tilted her head, "Do what? I didn't-"
"That thing. The mind trick thing you do", he poked at her head.
"Mind tri- there's no trick. I have no idea what you're talking about", she humored.
As much as he wanted to be mad, he couldn't. She was so cute and annoying at the same time. "I have class", he chuckled lightly.
"You do have class. I also have class, but here's the thing with that. Class doesn't start until another 30 minutes", she reminded.
How does he tell her he couldn't sit idly by as her friends made her laugh and those guys made googly eyes at her? "Your friends are waiting for you. I'll see you after school", he tried leaving.
"They can wait. Natsuo was telling this awful joke anyway. I've been trying to ditch them to sit by you, but they snagged me in line", she said.
His heart jolted, a sense of happiness taking over. She wanted to sit by me? He thought. Though his mood changed, his face never budged. "So what now? Wanna finish lunch together?", he suggested monotoned.
