A few days had passed that felt like suffocating months. Evaras's mom got more draining.
Today felt different though, as if something was going to change or happen. Evaras could feel it in her gut. She attempted to pay no mind.
Callum had been gone this morning. He had a meeting to attend, and he said he'd be back with takeout for dinner. It was now just her and her mother. She rubbed her eyes, and after a few moments of self-reflection, she went downstairs attempting to make breakfast for her and her mother. She felt like a kid again. The last time she made breakfast for her mother, it was during Valentine's Day. Her mother was her valentine.
Evara made toast and eggs. She knew how her mother liked her coffee. She liked it dark with no cream or sugar.
She placed it on the table and went up to her. She heard nothing but silence come from inside the room.
"Mum.." she said softly, knocking against the door.
After a second, she opened the door, stating,
"Mum..good morning"
Her mother was wrapped in the blankets, still snoozing away. Once she heard Evaras's voice, she awakened slowly.
"I made breakfast. Come down when you're ready.." she spoke. Her mother sat up, rubbing her eyes before replying with a "Good Morning" back.
"How'd you sleep?" She asked.
"...quite well. My flight leaves tonight. I think I might head over sooner than later" she replied.
Evaras's face changed.
"What..I thought you were here till Thursday. It's Tuesday, Mum.." Evara spoke.
"Evs..I think it'd be best for me to go..I appreciate you taking me in for a while, but I-"
"You're this upset?" Evara raged.
"You're so upset with the life I've given myself. You cannot bear to look at me anymore?" You asked.
"Evara, it is not-"
"I don't know how else to please you anymore. How to satisfy you.." Evara sighed as tears fell from her eyes.
"I just want you to value yourself more..what your living situation is right now— this isn't you. This isn't what you want for yourself" her mother told.
"I wanted someone to see me for who I am. I wanted a place to call home to seek comfort. I've received that here more than I've ever had at home!" Evara spoke.
"The only reason why you're even here as of now is because of me.I've tried everything I could to raise you the proper way. How dare you let your pride get ahead of yourself? You should be ashamed for speaking to me in such a way." She snapped.
