The cold winter air brushed against her cheeks as they walked along the empty beach, the sand damp beneath their feet. The ocean, restless and dark, mirrored the storm of thoughts swirling in her mind. It had been two years two, complicated, and transformative years since they first met, and as she looked at him now, his hands stuffed into his pockets, his eyes gazing out at the horizon, she felt something shift inside her.

She had always loved him, loved the way he smiled at her, the way he made her feel safe in a world that could be so uncertain. But tonight, something deeper stirred.

The wind tugged at her hair, and she shivered slightly, stepping closer to him. He noticed, wrapping an arm around her shoulders, pulling her into his warmth. The gesture was simple, familiar, but it sent a wave of certainty through her. She realized that this was where she wanted to be by his side, not just for tonight, not just for a few more years, but for a lifetime.

"I've been thinking," she began, her voice soft against the sound of the waves crashing in the distance.

He turned to her, his gaze attentive, as if sensing the weight of her words. "About what?"

She took a breath, her heart fluttering with anticipation and a tinge of nervousness. "About us. About our future."

A smile tugged at the corners of his lips, though his eyes searched hers, curious but cautious. "What about it?"

"We've been together for a while now," she said, her words slow and deliberate. "And I just... I see myself with you forever. I want to take things further. I'm ready for the next step, whatever that looks like for us."

His expression softened, and for a moment, the world seemed to still. The winter chill, the dark ocean, even the distant cries of the gulls all of it faded into the background as he looked at her, his eyes full of the same love she had come to rely on. But now there was something else something more certain.

He reached out, taking her hand, his touch gentle but firm. "The next step?" he repeated, as if testing the words on his tongue.

Her heart sank just a little. This wasn't the immediate, joyful agreement she had hoped for. She forced herself to stay calm, to meet his eyes.

"Yeah," she said softly. "I want us to move forward. Maybe talk about what the future looks like for us."

"I don't know," he said after a moment, his voice low. "It's not that I don't love you, because I do. I really do. But two years... it's just... I don't know if it's been long enough Evs" He answers
