Mom and I waited at the door in front of Jaiden's house, it was raining outside, so mom and I were pretty desperate to find out what we can and get back to my uncle's. The door finally opened to reveal Jaiden's father on the other side of the door. He didn't look surprised to see us even considering that Jaiden wasn't with us which gave me hope that maybe she was here.

"Hey have you seen or heard from Jaiden is she here? I haven't been able to get ahold of her," I asked him.

"No she's not here and I haven't heard from her"

"Well I'm really confused because she left her stuff at my house but she vanished"

"I haven't heard from her and the last time I've seen my daughter is when she left, but it's not unusual for her to run away like this she's always been troubled"

"You say not unusual like it's a normal occurrence that she runs away a lot, she's 17 I mean what the fuck?" I said.

"Darc," my mom placed her hand on my shoulder.

"Sorry Darcy is really concerned about Jaiden but if you hear from her-

"Jaiden is not here, sorry I can't help you"

"She's your daughter"

"Who's also almost 18, and she's been looking to move out, if we call she won't return our calls or texts and we have no way of tracking her or tracking her would be pointless the best thing we have learned to do is wait, she always comes home"

"We'll keep our eyes peeled thanks"

"Mhm," he quickly shut the door and I rolled my eyes about how suspicious this all looks and sounds. My head was overflowing with questions it made me spiral. All I could do is blow up Jaiden's phone, assuming she has it, assuming it's on, and assuming that she's okay...

"Something isn't right," I said to mom while tapping my foot back in forth quickly when we got back to the car, not because my anxiety was through the roof but because I was angry.

"Look we can drive around for a bit, but we have to get back to your mama and your brothers"

"Can you drop me off at Josephine's she can drive me back"

"Josephine and I are getting back together, I didn't tell you that me and Jaiden broke up, because Jaiden got blacked out drunk and ended up with her ex and I couldn't forgive her, but I cared about her so much, I caught her trying to kill her self and I took the gun from her, Jaiden she's broken, Josephine is the only one that might know of her whereabouts, they hate each other she knows people who knows Jaiden and I don't "

"Jaiden abuses alcohol, far as I know she doesn't do any drugs unless it's weed, but her car is missing and her phone, I'm just afraid, she's still a friend to me, I care about her mom"

"We'll find her, I promise"
