Thranduil was holding a steady course all day to reach Fangorn Forest by nightfall. He had been there once before. He liked the forest very much, and he felt safe there. He liked the ents too. Maybe he would run into Treebeard. He smiled. He remembered when he was younger, when they journeyed through Fangorn Forest. How surpriesed he was when a gigantic tree started talking. His father told him that the elves were the ones who woke the trees and taught them how to speak. That the elves cured the ents of their "dumbness". He thought of the nice stories Treebeard told him when he followed the elves for a while in the forest. He used to make his father retell them every now and then when he was going to bed. The tales of all the small animals were so much fun.

He was suddenly ripped out of his warm childhood memories when a group of ocs came his way. "Great!", Thranduil said and frowned. He drew sword and was ready to fight. They were about ten orcs, on foot, so he could easily have outrun them, but he needed an outlet for his rage, and these orcs begged for trouble.
