The girl is staring at you, sizing you up like a lion hunting it's prey. You gulp, and fear electrifies you, sending your brain into muddles of confusion.

The last hour has been a blur. All you remember feeling is like the end of the world is near, and that everything was going to change. You didn't know how, you just felt it.

"I'll explain everything when we get there." The girl said, piercing you again with her stormy grey eyes.

"What do you mean?" You ask, trying to keep the panic at bay. But it doesn't work. The girl sees through your attempt at a casual tone and her eyes narrow.

"Oh dear." She says. "You don't seem to trust me do you? Well, it's your choice. You can either come with me to safety or go out alone, which would mean certain death."

You glance backwards at the burning school. "I think I'd rather risk it."

The girl sighs. "So be it." And then she's gone.

You head back home with a nagging thought and a tired feeling in your bones. It's been a long day, and it feels all like a dream. Well, at least you hope that you've been dreaming the entire time.

It all started in Math class. The teacher had handed back your homework and you got a B. Maths wasn't your best subject, but you were happy with your grade. Then suddenly, flames ignited on the whiteboard and the front row of desks caught fire. You jumped backwards and several other students screamed. Then a figure appeared in the flames. A boy. He seemed to stare at you with a fire in his eyes before he disappeared.

The teacher had dived out of the window and the class was either backed up against the wall or trying to wrench open another window. You ran for the door, the flames hot on your tail. In the split second before the fire caught up to you, you pulled open the door and leapt through it into the corridor outside. That's where you met the girl. She was holding a bronze dagger and slashing at a girl who had fiery hair. The girl with fiery hair let out a wail before dissolving into golden dust.

Now here you are. Outside your front door forcing yourself to think that everything that has just happened didn't. That the smoke curling towards the sky a few streets away wasn't really there and that you didn't notice the bushes rustle every time you turn away from them.

You raise your fist to the doorknob, but something forces you to stop. You turn around to face the bushes and say clearly, with your heart thumping in your chest: "I know you're there. If you were expecting me to be attacked any second, then you were wrong. I--" but you are cut off as something slams into the top if your head. Teeth sink into your arm and there is a scream of pain and terror--wait, no that was just you.

And then everything goes black.

You are lying on something soft. For a moment you start to panic, unsure where you were. Then the stream of memories came back to you. The fire that has destroyed the school lingers in your mind for a moment before you open your eyes.

The room is small, about the size of your bedroom, yet most of it is taken up by cupboards. A light was flickering above the bed you are lying in, and panic starts to return to your blood like water seeping into a hole.

"Finally. You're awake." You jump as the voice spoke. Heart in your mouth, you stare at the girl who has spoken. The same one who talked to you after the fire.

"What's it to you?" You snap.

The girl laughs. "Would you have preferred for me to have left you to die?"

"Where am I anyway? Why have you kidnapped me?"

"Camp Half-Blood." The girl replies. "You're here because you're a demigod. My name's Annabeth Chase."

"A demi-what?" You demand.

"A demigod. Half god half mortal." Annabeth explains. "I'm a daughter of Athena."

"I don't believe you." You scream, sitting up. "Take me home! This is just some stupid dream. When I wake up, you'll be long gone."

Annabeth only smiles. "Don't believe me? Come outside."

You unwillingly rose out of the comfortable bed and follow her outside. What you saw was almost proof that you were dreaming. Almost.
Teenagers climb up a wall that spews lava and shakes violently every five seconds. A few kids are playing volleyball and even more were canoeing around on a lake. A gasp was caught in your throat. "Believe me now?" Annabeth asked, smirking.

"Yes...yes I do." You whisper.

Suddenly, a sea green light shines onto you. You look above your head and gape as you see the holographic image of a trident sitting there. It lingers for a moment before fading away into nothingness.

"Welcome to Camp Half-Blood, child of Poseidon." Annabeth announces, and suddenly, you are sure that this is not a dream. It's all real.
