Ooh, what's this? Another one-shot? Excellent!
I watched as Annabeth walked up the aisle. She looked beautiful.
Her dress was simple yet elegant and it hugged her waist before spiralling down to her ankles in a glittering curl. Blonde hair done in a plait was decorated in mini owl sequins, and a veil covered her tanned face.
When Annabeth reached the altar with her father, I took her hands in mine and gazed into her deep, stormy grey eyes. She smiled, and that simple movement lit my day up like Christmas.
"We are gathered here today to witness the..." Chiron, who was our preacher, droned on, but all I could do was stare into Annabeth's gorgeous eyes.
"Do you, Perseus Jackson," I snapped out of my trance. "Take Annabeth Chase to be your loyal, wedded, wife?"
"What?" I asked. Some people in the crowd snickered.
Annabeth giggled. Chiron gave me an encouraging look.
"Oh, yeah, right. I do." I felt a blush rise on my cheeks.
"Do you promise to stay loyal to her, to come to her needs and look after her when she is ill?"
"I do."
"Do you, Annabeth Chase, take Percy Jackson to be your loyal, wedded husband?"
"I do." Her smile was as bright as a thousand stars gleaming in the night sky.
"Do you promise to stay loyal to him, to come to his side and look after him when he is ill?"
"I do."
I heard someone sniff in the audience, but all I could do was focus on Annabeth standing in front of me.
"I now declare you Husband and Wife. Percy, you may kiss the bride."
There was a round of applause as I pulled Annabeth's veil off and put one hand on the back of her head. She started to lean in...
Suddenly, I woke up in my bed. Tears were streaming down my face and I was full-out crying as I groped around the other side of the bed to try and find my Wise Girl.
But then it hit me. It hit me like a full-force gale wind and I sobbed harder, clutching my shoulders in my emotional pain.
Annabeth had died the night before our wedding five years ago in a house fire. My Wise Girl and I would never get married.
She was gone.
