Ch.15

"Willa!"

I slowly open my eyes when I hear screaming, "Huh?"

"Willa stop don't go! Willa!" I feel thrashing next to me.

"Kaden?" I say looking next to me, still sleepy.

"Willa please! Please don't leave me!" Kaden screams, covered in sweat and what looks like tears.

"Kaden," I shake his shoulders and his eyes shoot open, red rimmed.

"Willa.." He chokes.

"Shhh Kaden," I hug him tight, not caring about the sweat.

"Kaden.. Do you have nightmares every night?" I ask after a while of laying with him.

"Well if I go to sleep yes.. But I usually try to stay up," he says breathing heavily.

"This night it was completely different, it was about.. Nevermind."

"Kaden please explain, maybe if you tell me about your past the nightmares will eventually stop.." I state rather than question.

"Okay Willa, but I'm not telling you about what has happened to me right now, though I will tell you about my dream,"

"I was at your house and it was really dark," he takes a deep breath starting to tell me about his dream.

"And you were on the couch, watching something and crying.. I tried coming up to you but it was like there was an invisible wall keeping you from me. I started yelling trying to comfort you, and then someone barged into your house. It was a guy almost as tall as me but a little shorter, with brown hair and eyes like yours."

My dad?

"He grabbed your arm and pulled you out of the house, I tried yelling your name but you wouldn't turn around. And when you were gone everything started to disappear, first the couch, then the TV, and then their was nothingness." Kadens breathing was getting shallow, I was starting to get worried.

"I screamed your name trying to make you come back, but you wouldn't.. I was all alone, it was pitch black and so cold," he choked again, his breathing came out in pants. I think he was having a panic attack.

"Kaden calm down, look at me please Kaden," I said getting up with him and sitting in his lap.

"Look at me Kaden," he finally looked up with panicked eyes.

"I need you to follow my breaths, in and out." I said worriedly.

He started to match my breaths with his own, eyes still on me. Slowly he started breathing normally again.

"I'm sorry for waking you Willa," he said hugging me.

"You don't have to be sorry, I'm just glad that you're okay," I checked the clock next to my bed, it's 5:30 am. We should get up because I still need to get ready, drop Zeke off at daycare and go to school.

"It's time to get up anyways," I tell him getting out of his arms.

He gets up but right when he's standing he pulls me back into his arms, "Do you need to take a shower?" he asks

"I just need to wash my body, you?"

"No, I took one last night. Do you want me to wake up Zeke?"

"Nope that boy wakes himself up," I tell him placing my head on his chest.

"Zeke is one of a kind," Kaden says, amused.

"He tells himself that everyday," I laugh.

Getting out of his arms I go into the bathroom and quickly take a shower, brushing my teeth also while I'm here.
