"Mom? Mom! Where are you going! Don't leave me please!" I hear someone yell beside me.
"Kaden?" I mutter groggily. He must be having another nightmare. Does he have one every night?
"Mom please! Mom stop you can't leave.. NO MOM!" Kaden yells.
"Kaden wake up." I softly say. He whimpers, almost in a child like state.
"Baby, Kaden. Please wake up," I say kissing his cheek lightly.
His eyes shoot open, taking in his surroundings.
"Bambi." He grasps onto me, pulling me tight against him.
"It's okay Kaden, I'm here." I tell him, lifting my head up and swiping away the hair on his forehead.
I want to ask what his dream was about but I feel like he'll shut me out completely. Finally I make the decision that it's better to ask now than not know ever.
"Kaden.. Maybe if you told me... Not even me but anyone about those dreams than you would slowly stop having them.." I tell him slowly, lightly brushing his face.
"I can tell you.. I'll tell you about my childhood first I guess. I think that's a start."
"You don't have to-"
"It's okay Willa, I think it's time I finally told you.." He cuts me off.
I kiss him lightly on the lips and he responds quickly.
Kaden breaks apart from me and sits up a bit, resting his head against his headboard. I sit up and sit in his lap, putting all my attention towards the love of my life.
"My dream tonight was... It was about the mom I've never had. The mom that was killed, the mom that was taken from me and replaced," Kaden tells me.
"My mom.. She was killed when I was 2. After she had died my dad sent me way to live with my aunt. I never knew my mom died. Since I was very young I didn't really remember my parents faces that well when I came back 3 years later." Kaden takes a deep breath hugging me close.
"My dad lied to me.. He lied about my mom. He told me my real mom left us and this new woman was my mother. Somewhere deep down I could feel she wasn't anywhere close to my mom. I lived with her and my dad till I was 7 and then on my 8th birthday they decided to split. Best birthday present for a 8 year old." He laughs.
"That's when I move next to you, you were breathtaking by the way. Still are too," I smile up at him.
"After 2 years, 2 fucking years my dad's ex finally tells me that my mom died. I felt betrayed, I felt fucking mad, and I felt lied to. I was only 10... They ruined my childhood." He mutters angrily.
"I could never forgive them. I'd switch from his house to hers and back, since they're never here. They're both always working. I found pictures one day of my mom in my dads office, that's why I got so defensive when you went through the box behind my shelf. It was the only part of my real mom that I actually had." He says closing his eyes.
"Kaden... Your mom is always with you, you know?" I tell him putting my hand onto his heart.
"Bullshit! Everyone always says that, I didn't even know her. But I fucking miss her.."
I pull Kaden close, combing my fingers through his hair, "Willa.. That's not even the worst part."
I pull away from Kaden looking him in the eyes, "You know how she died? She died because of my dad. After years of wondering I finally found a newspaper kept in my dads office, explaining her death. Almost like a story for everyone to fucking read, a story of my mothers death.
