Chapter Three

"Dinner's ready, come down Liam!" His mom called.

"Coming," Liam called back.

"What should I do?" Brett asked.

Liam sighed.
"We can tell her we're friends again," he suggested.

Brett nodded slowly.
"I guess we should," he said.

"Alright. Come down when I say," Liam said as he walked downstairs.

"Mom?" He called out.

"Yeah, Hun? she asked.
"Mason isn't here. Someone else is," he said.

"Well, who is it? They can eat with us, Liam," she said.

"That's the thing, it's.. Brett," Liam said weakly.
She nodded slowly. Very slowly.

"Brett.. Talbot?" His mom asked. Liam nodded.
She swallowed roughly.

"He's welcome to come down, Li (pronounced Lee)," she said. Liam nodded.

He walked upstairs and sighed.
"C'mon," Liam said as him and the taller boy walked down into the kitchen. The room smelled of pasta and fresh bread.

"Brett, it's been a while," she said as she put some food on each plate.
He nodded.

"Yeah, it has. Nice seeing you again," Brett said.

This officially couldn't get more awkward for Liam, or for anyone in the room for that matter.

"You too," she said a as she put the plates on the table.

"Eat up," she said.

The boys took their seats and ate rather quietly.

Once Brett finished he took Liam and his plate to the sink to help clean up.

"Well, it's been nice seeing you again. Thanks for having me," Brett said to Liam's mom.
She nodded.

"See you tomorrow, Liam," he said and Liam smiled.

"Yeah. Tomorrow," Liam said as he shut the door for Brett.

Liam glanced over at his mom who has a look on her face.
A kind of what-the-hell look.

"He did nothing wrong Mom," Liam explained.
She nodded.

"Be careful, Liam," she said quietly and put the towel she was cleaning up with on the handle of the stove, heading into the living room to sit on the couch with Abby. Liam nodded and sighed, walking up to his room.

What just happened?

Liam had no answer for that, so he took his jeans and shirt off and slid under the blankets on his bed.

Okay this chapter is quite short and not very exciting (at all) but the next couple of chapters will have more action xD so 2 votes and 2 comments and I'll update. (:
