Chapter Four

The alarm clock in Liam's room woke his up at 6:00AM. He shuffled around in his bed for a few seconds before throwing the blankets wrapped around his body onto the floor.

"Liam, are you up?" His mom called out from the stairway.

Liam groaned as a response, which he earned a laugh from her.

"I made pancakes, hurry up!" She said and Liam slowly walked down the steps and sat next to Abby at the table.

"Juice or milk?" Liam's mom asked.

"Juice for me, please," Liam's step-dad walked into the room with his work uniform on. He leaned in to kiss her and sat down across from Abby.

"How's school going, you two?" He asked Abby and Liam.

Liam nodded
"Good," he said.

He finished eating and put his plate in the dishwasher, heading back upstairs to take a shower and put on fresh clothes- a California Republic shirt and kakis.

Liam put gel in his hair and put on his black Vans, heading downstairs.

"Bye," Liam called out before shutting the door to see the bus was coming down the street.

"Perfect timing," Liam mumbled to himself.

*Liam's POV*

When I got onto the bus, I saw my friends: Mason, Jack, and Alexis.

"Hey Liam," Mason said to me as I took a seat next to him.

"I have news.." I said.
Mason's eyes got wide.

"Well? What is it?" He asked.

"Brett Talbot. He was at my house last night. He wants to 'start fresh'," I said.
Mason's eyes got wider.

"The Brett Talbot who's hated you since freshmen year?" Mason asked.

I nodded.

"Intense.." He said as the bus came to a halt.
We were now at the school, and I remembered I have nearly every class with Brett, except one or two.

The teenagers got off the bus quickly, and soon enough I was walking towards the building that's ruined my life since I was five.

"Liam!" Scott called out.
I turned around to see Scott calling my name.

"Yeah, what's up?" I asked.
He frowned.

"The pack meeting last night," he said.
I sighed.

"Look, I'm really sorry. I had an unexpected guest come over and I lost track of time," I said honestly.

"Tomorrow after school. Do whatever you have to do tonight, but tomorrow we're having a meeting. No excuses. You're there, Liam," Scott lectured me. I nodded.

"Got it," I said as I walked next to him, opening one of the two doors which opened the school.

"Alright," he said, heading down the seniors hallway.

I kept straight, going to the sophomore hallway.

"Dunbar," I heard a similar voice call out.

I turned around to see Brett right behind me. He walked up next to me and began to talk.

"So, you wanna walk to biology together today?" He asked. I shrugged.

"I guess.." I said.
He nodded.
"So, yes?" Brett asked.

"Yeah, sure," I answered.
"Alright, cool," he said.

We walked to our lockers side by side and I grabbed my binder and textbooks for first and second hour.

"Ready?" I said as I shut my locker. Brett nodded.

I walked in to see Mr. Allen by the whiteboard.

"Take your seat, pronto!" He called out.
I sat down and Brett sat next to me.
I was turning my head to look at him, wondering what he was doing-until I remembered just because we walked in class together yesterday, he was ordered to sit next to me.

"Alright class, take out your green booklet which was given to you yesterday and start working on pages one, two, and six," Mr. Allen said.

I did as I was told and soon after I started working, Brett whispered.

"So, there's a party at Jake Morris's house this Friday. Since we both have practice until 6:30, do you want to go together right after we get out?" He asked.

"I'll think about it, maybe," I said. Brett laughed.

"That better be a yes by Friday," he winked and I felt my face heat up.

"Dunbar, do you have number two answered yet?" Mr. Allen asked.

"Uh- yeah," I looked down at my blank booklet.

"32x," Brett whispered so quietly it was barely audible.

"32x," I answered.
He nodded.

"That's right, excellent," he said.
Brett smirked.

"Guess you owe me now," he leaned in to whisper.

Now again, this wasn't the most exciting chapter but I swear it's gonna get real good real soon(;
