I'm still reading House of Hades so bare with me if I get something wrong.
I look around for Nico but I couldn't see him anywhere. Where is that child of Hades?
The cold winter air bites slightly at my bare arms but I seem to forget about the cold as I become anxious for the small ghost king. The air was full with shrieks of laughter and conversations that my fellow campers was having with each other.
With Leo gone on the search to find Calypso, that left me, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Hazel and Frank. And Nico of course.
Everyone was having a great time, dancing around the camp fire with Chiron looking over them. Annabeth walks over with a tight smile on her face.
"Hey, Percy." She says.
"Hey wise girl, how you holding up?"
Recently, me and Annabeth became distant from each other. I don't understand why, but, I don't look at her how I used to.
I used to look up at her like she was a Goddess just like her mother, but now I just see her for who she was, a demigod, a human. Her once beautifully silken hair is now just blonde hair, her stormy intimidating eyes were now just grey eyes that no longer held any power over me.
I look down, I shouldn't feel like this towards my girlfriend. I should love her till she's blue in the face, give her gifts until she bursts because her already messy bunk in her cabin holds no space for her to walk around in. I should take her to places filled with architecture so she'd be happy.
But, the thing is, they are all should. I should do this and I should do that. But I don't. And the worst part of it is, I only feel the tiniest bit guilty.
"I don't know," she admits. I look at her, I know how hard it is for her to say those three words, just like it's hard for me to say the other three words to her anymore.
We've went through a lot, us two. Returned Zeus' master bolt, went through the sea of monsters, held up the sky together, went through the labyrinth, defeated Kronos and defended Olympus... Again.
We survived the months apart when Hera erased my memory and sent me to camp Jupiter. We sailed on the Argo II and retrieved the mark of Athena, fell into Tartarus and closed the doors of death, and we defeated Gaea.
If you went through all that, you would think that you and your partner would last forever. But, I don't feel the same way. I feel terrible but in the same way I'm not too, I'm confused.
"Annabeth, what happened to- you know, us?" I ask her.
She sighs. "I guess, Aphrodite has bigger plans in store for us."
"So in other words, blame Piper for her mom?"
"Pretty much, yeah." She says and laughs.
"So, I guess that's it for us. In a relationship that is." I say, trying to clear things up.
"Yeah."
'So, Percabeth is sinking like the Titanic?"
"Yes, Percy. Percabeth is sinking like the Titanic."
I stare at the curious girl in front of me, suddenly curious. How the Hades did she put up with me for so long? I mean, maybe I'm Percy Jackson. Maybe I was the child of the fates, maybe I turned immortality down to be with Annabeth, maybe I've almost died more times than I can count on my fingers, but even that guy that survived each time he almost died has flaws. Everyone has flaws, its just that I have major ones.
"Friends?" She asks, holding her hand out.
"Friends." I agree, smiling as I shake her hand.
"Maybe friends can be our always." I say, giving her a wink. She shakes her head laughing before walking off to talk to Piper.
I look around again for Nico but I still can't see him. I sigh and I walk up the Stoll twins.
"Hey! Percy! Just the man we need!" They say in unison.
"If it's a prank on the Ares cabin, I will help you later on. But for now, there is a reason why I came to find you." I say.
The smile widely and nod. "So, what do you need?"
I tell them my plan and agree to help, and they get exactly what I needed. A microphone.
I put the megaphone near my mouth and took a deep breath before turning it on.
"HADES HAS FOUR THOUSAND ATTACK POINTS!" I shout.
I hear mumbling go around the crowd but one voice stood out most of all.
"Actually," Nico says, emerging from the shadows. His messy black hair covering his gorgeous eyes. Did I just think that?
"It's five thousand, but only if your opponent attacks first."
I smile. "I found him."
