Castiel fell in love the minute he first laid his eyes upon the beauty in front of him. The sight was breathtakingly stunning, the colours stood out that would make any head turn. Castiel and Dean were arguing again, they weren't dating and yet they were arguing like an old married couple.
The ex-angel needed some space, every time they argue it was chipping away at Castiel's heart, the unearthed feelings he had for the oldest Winchester keeps getting buried deeper and deeper with each argument. How could he possibly tell Dean how he feels when he is constantly reminded of how much of a distraction he was? How he was just there and getting in the way?
Cas found the lake after him and Dean had one of the biggest arguments yet, leaving Cas in tears and Dean in, well. Cas didn't know how Dean reacted because he ran out before yet more hurtful words could be thrown. He ran and soon found himself wandering a forest that he could barely see due to the tears blocking his sight, after a bit of stumbling he came across a clearing, and he was so glad he did. It was beautiful, the water shimmering in the moonlight, the light rippling as more water from the waterfall cascaded down, the gentle breeze blowing the tree branches around softly and a set of rocks to the side, out of reach from the water.
The former angel came here after every argument now, after every fight and sometimes he came here to think. He knew he was a pain in the ass, he knew that most things that came spurting out of Dean Winchester's mouth was true, but it still hurt Cas that Dean had no qualms about saying those things while knowing how much it hurt him. Or did he know? Did he realise that now that Cas was no longer an angel he could feel more? While he could feel before he could most of the time brush the feelings off, but now he can't and it feels like they take control of him than he takes control of them.
Castiel took off his trench coat and laid it down on the smallest rock before ascending up the rocks to reach the tallest one that overlooks the entire lake, it was shaped weirdly, slightly reminding Cas of the spiral hill from one of Cas' favourite Disney films, The Nightmare Before Christmas. This place has became his peaceful getaway that he could use to think while Dean used the bunker, the place became personal to him, Castiel for the first time apart from when Dean flirts with someone, he felt selfish. He wanted this place to himself. He sat looking around the exquisite scenery around him, tilting his head to the side in wonder.
"Lights."

Back at the bunker Dean Winchester was raking his hands through his hair, growling in frustration at how he seems to manage to mess everything up. His felt sick to his stomach when he saw Castiel's face after he threw those five words at him that might as well have been daggers. Dean realised he messed up real bad this time. Jackass style. He needed to apologise to Cas.
The green-eyed hunter stood and walked at a relatively fast pace towards the direction of Castiel's room. He lightly knocked on the door, but there was no answer. Dean tried again. Still no answer. This time around Dean took a deep breath and decided to take matters into his own hands.
"Look, Cas, I'm-"
He was cut short when he realised his baby in a trench coat wasn't in his room. He walked out and checked every room in the bunker at least three times causing the younger Winchester to watch his older brother with interest.
"Lost something?" Sam asks.
"Yeah," Dean said, walking into the library where Sam was currently situated. "An angel who's lost his grace."
Sam gave his brother a hard glare. "Don't you think you've hurt Castiel enough?"
Dean looked at his brother, nothing but remorse in his hurting green eyes which shocked Sam a lot. "I know that, Sammy, but I need to tell him the rest of it."
