Asher's P.O.V.

Right now I was sitting in the living room of the pack house listening to what the Alpha had to say about the meeting. Along with me here, were a few other members of the pack and some of my friends. For those of you who don't know, an Alpha is basically the person who heads the pack and is responsible for the pack, which involves the safety of everybody that resides in it. In this case the pack is one of werewolves. Obviously that is a big job, but he does have a Beta to help him out at times. Now a Beta, I guess you could say, is like the Alphas 'wing man' or 'right hand man', always there to lend a helping hand whenever needed. The Alpha also goes by another name to me which is dad, and yes, that does mean in a few years I will be taking over the Shadow Pack as Alpha. Well, as long as I have my mate by then, but I am hopeful she'll come to me or me to her. I'm definitely confident I'll find her, I mean, she's only avoided me for the past 17 years of my life so how hard can it be right?

I tried to avoid thoughts of having a mate because as much as I am fine on my own, my wolf and I always long to have our mate to hold, and to be able to cherish the only girl that can ever truly love me for me, and I the same for her. Sitting here in the pack house is probably one of worst places to be when having thought of my mate as well. Everywhere you go there are mated couples who look so in love that a person can't help but be jealous and want what they have. Even school is a hard place to be sometimes considering the majority of my friends have already found their mates.

As I realised the meeting had come to a close as people started rising from their seats and saying goodbye to one another. I was on my way to meet my friends and had almost made it out of the living room when my father stopped me saying that he wanted to have a word. This obviously meant one of two things. One, he wanted to talk about the pack and my alpha training. Or number Two, he noticed that I wasn't paying a large amount of attention to what he had just said. Honestly I think I'm going to go with the former considering I wasn't spaced out for that long.

I followed him out of the living room, down the hallway and into his office where he sat behind his desk and I sat on the opposite side of him in One of Two chairs. After a few seconds a knock sounded at the door and in walked my mother. They both greeted each other with a smile and a kiss on the cheek and went to sit on the couch on the other side of the room with my father following after her like a lost pup. Instead of sitting with them I just decided to reposition my chair so that I was facing the both of them. Observing them together, I finally realised just how badly I wanted my mate in my life, I wanted to have exactly what my parents have, and love somebody just as much as they love each other.

My parents look really good together; no-one can deny them that. My Dad is called Aiden and has black hair and grey eyes, which I inherited from him and he also has a lot of muscle from being alpha and stood at about 6ft 3 inches while I was 6ft possibly scraping 6ft 1 inches. My mother's name is Allison. She is very petit compared to my father standing at 5ft 7 inches maybe meeting the boundary of 5ft 8 inches, but she did like to wear high heels, so most of the time she stood at about 5ft 10/11 inches. Mom also had thick hair which I got from her, but my hair is black whereas hers is brown and has natural curls in it. My dad and her friends always call her Bambi due to the brown puppy dog eyes she owns with which she can get anything she wants. Breaking out of my trance like state I decided to start the conversation and get straight to the point. "So what did you want to talk about?"

My dad let a deep breath out through his nose and explained "We just wanted to know how you are." That question did generally surprise me as I thought he would have given me an earful about not paying attention to him, or about me learning the roles of Alpha. Apparently the surprise of the question must have been portrayed on my face as he let out a chuckle. That chuckle also snapped me out of my train of thought as I replied back to my father.
