Asher's POV

Knock. Knock. Knock.

The persistent noise of my knocking echoed off of the wide, black, wooden door, the door to the mansion almost as grand as the house itself.

Maybe I shouldn't have come here.

It probably was just a mistake

In all honesty they probably hadn't even heard my knocking.

It's not like they were actually expecting me.

Maybe I could just turn around and walk away?

As I was contemplating this question in my head, I moved to turn around, but I was too little too late.

"Asher! My boy! What brings you here?"

Turning back towards the voice of Cameron's father, Alpha Darren Walker, I looked at his light blue eyes, framed by his sharp cheek bones, dirty blonde hair and muscular build, all covered up by a Grey suit without the blazer, black - Italian may I say? - leather shoes, and a light grey tie to match.

"Hi there, Alpha Walker! How are you doing?" Looking up at the old man - that looked not a day over his late twenties or early thirties - that had basically been an uncle to me when I grew up as kid, I sent him a smile.

" I've been just fine Asher. Actually I just got back from seeing your father about half an hour ago."

"Oh right! Dad told me you guys were having a meeting. Rogues, I believe were the issue at hand?"

"It sure was son. But nothing to worry about. They were just from a territory a few towns over. They were just scouting out the area."

"That's cool. A lot better then the reasoning I had." Letting out a chuckle he leaned against the door frame.

"So what can I do for you Asher? As much as I like seeing you, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't travel all the way over to my pack house for a quick catch up when I could have just seen you earlier on your own territory."

Letting out a breathy laugh I got up from by position from leaning on the white fencing that lined the large decking that circled the front of the house, leading to around the back of the pack house also.

"I was just wondering if Cameron was home by any chance? I just have a few things I needed to talk to him about." Trying to keep my answer as vague as possible I just put on a smile and hoped for the best instead.

Taking on a somewhat sceptical look and tone, he tilted his head to the side and questioned me. "What type of things do you wish to talk to my dear son about Asher?"

Even if he was being sceptical, I could still see a slight hint of teasing lurking around in those pale blue eyes of his.

"Just some school stuff. Nothing too exciting." Keeping my vague answering I rambled on. "I don't wanna bother telling you about." Still not looking so convinced I just decided to go with my rambling flow. "Honestly. It's not exciting. Really boring actually. I don't wanna tell you. Might lead to an early death, you know?" Letting out an awkward chuckle I made eye contact with Alpha Walker, where he was still standing comfortably, leaning against the door, trying to obviously hold in his laughter.

"It's alright Asher. However, unfortunately for you Cameron isn't home right now. Am I able to take a message for you?"

Before I could even answer him, Cameron's little sister Connie - short for Constance - made her way over to her father.

"Hey pops! Mom wants you in the kitchen. Don't ask me why, because I don't know. She started talking about feeding the five thousand again."

Sighing, Alpha Walker quickly made his way down the hallway muttering a quick goodbye. Even before I could respond he was away down a corridor, leading to who I could only presume was the kitchen.

"Oh, hey Ash! What brings you here?"

Constance Walker, or Connie as everybody called her, was the spitting image of her brother, but obviously in a much more feminine structure. Dirty blonde her goings down to her mid back in what everybody referred to as taylor swift curls and baby blue eyes, a single prominent dimple in her left cheek, along with white teeth still covered in pink Damon braces. The 14 year old was like an American sweetheart, that's how childlike she was at heart. Today she was wearing blue skinny jeans, a pair of white converse, and a red plaid shirt.

"Nothing too exciting Con. I was just looking for your brother. I needed to ask him a few things, but your dad already said he wasn't here."

"What did you wanna ask him about?"

As she leaned against the door frame and tilted her head to the side, you could see there was no lie when I say she was one hundred percent her fathers child.

"Oh, you know, just some school stuff."

"Really?" She questioned, staring at me with a blank look on her face.

"Do you really expect me to believe you would travel all the way from your pack house, just to talk to my brother, when at least half the teenagers in you pack attend the same high school that you go to, just to talk about, 'school stuff'?" Making air quotations with her fingers I could tell she didn't believe me.

"Yes?" I told her looking her in the eyes.

"Why are boys so stupid?" She muttered to herself looking down. Though before I could even come to defend the male population she looked at me and gestured me to come inside.

"It's obviously girl troubles. Come on in. Cameron just mind linked me saying that he's just got back from his run. We'll see if we can help you out."

Looking at her sceptically, I thought about how I could use the help. In all honesty if it wasn't my mate and it wasn't Vanessa, no way in hell, as an Alpha, would I ever take relationship advice from someone else. It was embarrassing.

But this time is what my mate. And that meant that a lot was at stake. So with that in mind, I walked through the threshold of their pack house and made my way to their living room.

Not once giving a crap what anybody would think.
