Vanessa's P.O.V.

Laughing loudly I exited my A.P. Chemistry class with Ben by my side. We both had P.E. together so we had decided to walk together.

"Ok. How about this one : What do you do with a dead Chemist?" Ben asked, smiling away at me the sun reflecting off them as we strolled towards the gym.

"I don't know Ben," I said chuckling. " What do you do with a dead chemist?"

"You Barium him!" He cracked laughing. A laugh escaping my lips as well. All lesson all we had done was crack lame chemistry jokes with each other. It was safe to say that Benjamin here was a Chemistry geek.

But hey, so was I.

"Ok. Ok. How about : What do you get if you swap the carbon atoms in a benzene ring for iron atoms?...You get a ferrous wheel!" I told him which caused him to laugh. It was a nice sound as well. It was warm. Inviting. It made you want to laugh along with him.

"Ok, wait. I'm going for the win. What is it called when Queen of England farts?... A noble gas!" He said laughing as we made our way through the double doors that led to the gym. Laughing along with him we took a seat on the stands and continued coming up with the lamest chemistry jokes we could until the coach came out.

Upon my entrance I looked around the gym taking everything in. It seemed that this gym was the one used for indoor basketball as the court was very clearly layed out, the lines of the court white, contrasting against the rich wood colour of the floor. The school colours were maroon and gold and they lined the walls of the large gymnasium, apparent in emblems, posters and state champion titles along with other achievements.

As my eyes scanned the room I also saw Asher with Tyler and Katie, standing down on the court. As if they could sense my stare they all turned around, though Asher located me before the other two. Reaching my hand out I made a waving gesture and smiled at the three of them. They all waved back, with smiles on their faces, but it was cut short when Ben's hand found it's way to my lower back as he manoeuvred us through some students to get to some seats. Giving them a slight smile I made move to turn around, but not before noticing Asher's clenched fists which made his arm muscles ripple almost through his shirt.

I wonder what's wrong with him. I thought, still following Ben up the stairs of the wooden structure.

"So where's Ryan today? I haven't seen him anywhere." I asked Ben, curious as to where the black haired boy was. I was pretty sure that Ben and him were best buds, if how they were with each other the first time I met them said anything.

"Oh, it's Freshman's first day isn't it? He got picked by his homeroom teacher to be like a 'Freshman Guide' type thing since we're seniors." He told me, popping his bag down by his feet.

After this Ben informed me that on the first lesson we didn't do anything. He informed me that the coach just went through what the appropriate attire was if we didn't wish to wear school uniform, what sports we would be participating in, and if needed a few safety measures. For example, if we were going to play football - well soccer - you might want to wear shin pads and so on.

And say all of this he did.

When he was finished he said that we could go home early as he didn't have any reason to keep us behind.

"Here. Let me help you down." Ben said as he took my bag into one of his free hands and grabbed one of my right hand with his other one as he helped me down the stadium steps.

"Thanks." I told him when we reached the bottom. As I took my last step off the wooden seats I obviously underestimated the height and stumbled forward towards him.
