The Assassin Queen (Book Four)

Chapter Eleven-Alexandria

Aaron and I ran downstairs and into the hospital in the castle, where we saw my sister laying in a bed, her back singed from fire. "Ryia!" I said. Leo was with her. They both looked up at me. "What happened?" I asked. Ryia then told me everything that happened. It was hard to take it all in, but I listened carefully. "Alexandria, this almost reminds me of when the shadows suddenly paralyzed you" Aaron mumbled. I lightly gasped. He looked at me, then at Ryia.

"I'm convinced that this is the same evil magic" he said. Everyone was silent. Suddenly, I heard footsteps. Terrin appeared next to me. He stared at Ryia, not saying a word. He looked away with sadness in his eyes. "Ryia....I'm so sorry..." He said. "Me...too..." Ryia said. I could tell that it was hard for the both of them to admit that they were sorry. Everyone was silent. "Leo, you need rest. I'll stay with Ryia" I said. "But....you have duties" he said. "My duties can wait, my sister is more important at the moment" I said. Leo nodded. He kissed Ryia and left the hospital, along with Aaron and Terrin.

I sat on a chair next to Ryia's bed and took her hand. "You'll be alright, I promise" I said. Ryia smiled and gripped my hand. "You don't have to stay with me sis, you've got a kingdom to take care of" Ryia said. "Yeah, well I've also got a little sister to take care of" I said. "Little? Alexandria, have you forgotten that we are twins?" She asked. I smiled impishly and said, "mother confirmed to me that I was born ten minutes before you" I said. "Bullshit" Ryia responded. I laughed.

"Your totally shitting me right now!" Ryia said, her voice raising. I laughed, and she laughed too. "Well, little sister, it seems like your feeling a lot better!" I said. "Don't call me that, dammit!" Ryia said, laughing as she yelled at me. We bursted into laughter. "I'm just giving you trouble, even though it's true" I said. Ryia rolled her eyes,many I giggled. "You know....I hear that your the youngest queen Talahan has ever had" Ryia said. I nodded and said, "I know."

We were silent for a bit. Suddenly, I saw something on the nightstand. It was a letter. "What's this?" I asked, picking up the envelope. I opened it as Ryia said, "I don't know, I didn't see it before." I pulled the letter out and opened it, reading the words on the paper.

Watch out your highness, your my next victim the paper said. I lightly gasped and dropped the note. "What is it? What does it say?!" Ryia asked. I quickly summoned my crossbow. "Ryia...someone is watching us" I said. Then suddenly, I felt something cut my arm. I lightly gassed. A huge gash appeared across my shoulder. Ryia screamed. Their was a knife on the ground. Blood dripped down my arm. It curved around my fingers and dripped on the floor. I was too shocked to move.

"I-it came out of nowhere! It just flew in!" Ryia said. I stared at the knife, then watched as my blood dripped on the ground. What had just happened?! "Ryia....is this....some kind of joke?" I asked. Their was a small puddle of blood on the ground. "What?! No! Alex, your in danger, get out while you can!" Ryia yelled. I looked at her. "Ryia...what is this? What happened?" I asked. Suddenly, I heard running footsteps. "I heard a scream!" Said a voice. I turned around to see Leo, Aaron and Terrin.

"Alexandria! Your arm!" Aaron said. The puddle of blood now became a pool, and I was getting dizzy. "What the hell happened here?" Terrin asked. Leo ran to Ryia and asked, "are you alright?!" Ryia nodded. Aaron immediately called a nurse, and she bandaged my arm. I then realized what happened. Someone was trying to assassinate me. But it wasn't just anyone, it was the same person that killed Rowen and my father. I knew this for a fact.

I then realized that I could never be safe again, at least while I was alive. This person would be trying to kill me, he would do whatever it takes. I can never be alone again. I need full protection, the one thing I don't want.
