I remember when I used to sit in the very forest where I was with Rowen. We would sit by a small stream and he'd teach me everything he knew about being the future ruler of Talahan, so that I would learn from him. He'd give me life advice, and he'd help me with anything I needed help with. We had memories that I would cherish forever. Now, I would make new memories at this stream that I would always cherish.
Four years ago, a month after my niece and nephew were born, I had a son. I named him Damian after my great great grandfather, one of the greatest kings of Talahan. Just a year later, I had my beautiful daughter, Liana. Damian, Fabian, and Diane were four years old, and Liana was three. I sat by the stream with Ryia while Simon and Aaron played with the kids. A year after Ryia gave birth, she married Simon. I was happy for them, and I knew they loved each other. At this time, Ryia was pregnant with Simon's clild. We sat by the water, dipping our toes in, and her hand rested on her big belly.
"The tree has finally bloomed flowers. They look beautiful, and they go well with the spring weather" Ryia said. I smiled and said, "Leo would be proud of you, Ryia. I assure you that he's smiling down from the heavens". Ryia smiled and looked at her kids. "He looks just like him. Fabian" she said. I smiled. My daughter looked like my husband, unlike my son. Little Liana had long, blonde hair and blue eyes that matched her father's. But Damian was the spitting image of me. He had thick black hair and my strange blue colored eyes. You could easily tell he was my son.
"Fabian has your eyes" I said. "Yes...and Diane had Leo's" Ryia responded. "But she has your hair" I said. Ryia laughed. "Unfortunately" she said. "Unfortunately? Why say that? I think our hair is beautiful, don't you?" I asked, running my hand through my long, black hair. Ryia only smiled. She rubbed her belly and looked down at it. "If it's a boy, his name will be James. If a girl....Merline" Ryia said. I smiled and said, "those are beautiful names".
"Mother" said a voice. I turned to my left to see little Damian standing next to me. I smiled, and he took his shoes off and sat next to me, placing his toes in the water. "Damian, your not going to play with Diane, Fabian and Liana?" I asked. He shook his head. "I'm tired" he quietly said. "A young man like you should have lots of energy!" Ryia confidently said. Damian shrugged. I wrapped my arm around my son, and he rested his head in me. Ryia stood up. "I'm going to see how the kids are" she said, stretching her stuff back. I nodded, and Ryia walked away.
"Mother, how did you find this place? It's really pretty" Damian said. I smiled at him. "My big brother used to take me here" I said. "You have a brother?" Damian asked. I laughed. "Yes, well....I did. He died long ago" I said. Damian frowned. "It would be sad if Liana died, then I'd be bored" he said. I laughed. "Bored? You'd be a lot more than bored" I said. Damian shrugged. He was smart for a boy his age, and tall. He would be a strong man someday. "Damian, will you make me a promise?" I asked. "It depends on what that promise is" he said, smiling.
I giggled. "Promise me that when your a daddy someday, you'll take your wife and kids here" I said. Damian smiled. "I promise, mommy. And I'll take you here too, even though you'll be all old and stuff" he said. "Hey!" I responded. Damian laughed, and I scooped his up and tickled him. Damian laughed until he couldn't breathe, and so did I. This was all I wanted. Just me and my family. Everything seemed so peaceful and bright. But I didn't know that in the future, it wouldn't be that way.
The Demon King was extremely weak, but that didn't mean he was dead. He would gain his power back. And when he did, he would attack Talahan. But I would be ready. No matter what, I would protect my family and kingdom, even if it meant my life.
But for now, I enjoyed the peace.
