After a few days, Ryia healed and was able to walk again. I don't know why, but she seemed different. She was quiet, and didn't talk much. I understood why, she was afraid. I was scared too. I had to get stitches on my shoulder, which wasn't the most pleasant experience for me. It hurt like hell, Aaron had to come in and hold my hand while I got them.
After the stitches, all week was nonstop work and meetings. Being queen was tougher than it looked. When I was little, I always thought that queens just sat on their throne all day, since that's what it seemed like my mother did. Boy, I was wrong. All day, I would work nonstop. I would go to meetings with lords and dukes, approve or decline laws, meet up with stylists, the list goes on. I would have to stay up late, past midnight to do work, and when it was all finished, their was nothing more I could do than collapse and fall asleep.
Soon, a month passed. All I did was work. I barely had any time to see my sister, or my own husband. I felt so alone and lost. I never thought being queen would be this hard. And I knew it would get harder when Simon's army would attack again. I would probably be prohibited to fight, since I'm a lady. Basically, my life wasn't going the way I planned it to go.
On top of all the work, something happened one day. I was sitting in a meeting with the Dukes and the Mayor along with nobles when something happened. Everyone was arguing about a new law, when suddenly a knife came flying towards me out of nowhere. I gasped and dodged it. The knife planted itself into the wall. Their were many gasps, and now even more commotion. "Protect the Queen!" One of the guards yelled. I looked around the room. Where could this assassin be hiding?!
I had to get out of this room. What if Aaron was in danger? I shoved my way past the guards and ran out of the room. The Dukes and Lords were yelling at me, but I didn't care. I had to find my family. As I ran down the hall, three arrows shot towards me. I gasped and dodged all three. The enemy was ahed of me?! How could he have ran past me?! I didn't even see him run past me?! Could it be, was this assassin invisible?
I stopped running as I realized something. Running towards my family would be putting them in danger, even though I was the target. I turned around and ran towards the throne room. An arrow and two knifes flew by my head. They were hard to dodge, but I succeeded in my dodging. But suddenly, I felt a knife plant into my left shoulder. I winced and yelped in pain, but I kept running. It was a small knife, so it wasn't that big of a deal, although it stung, and it was deep in my skin.
After a few minutes, another knife planted itself in my side. I gasped and pulled the knife out. I felt dizzy, but I kept running. Where was I going? Where was I supposed to hide? Then suddenly, three knives planted into my legs, two in my right and one in the left. I yelled in pain and collapsed onto the ground. I pulled the knives out of my legs, then out of my shoulder. Then suddenly, I heard an evil laugh. You can't get away this time, your highness it said. I gasped.
Was this....really the end? I tried to stand, but collapsed to the ground. Then suddenly, a loud voice yelled, "oh no you don't!" An unfamiliar person came running from behind. It was a boy. The boy stood in front of me protectively with a crossbow. He was dressed in a simple navy blue tunic with black pants and boots. He had blood red hair and emerald eyes covered by big round glasses. He couldn't be more than fourteen years old, and he was a bit on the shorter side.
"Stay away from the princess, demon Knight!" The boy yelled, loading his crossbow. He pointed the crossbow straight ahead and shot. I heard a loud yell, and a figure appeared. It was tall, and covered in buff black armor. I couldn't see his face. "You win this time boy, but I'll be back!" The knight said. The knight disappeared within shadows. I noticed that the boy's arrows were an onyx color with red tips. Why were that way? Were they special for killing demons?
The boy turned around and looked at me. I got on my knees and hands, and slowly stood up. My legs were shaking madly, but I could stand. "Are you....princess Ryia?" The boy asked. I looked at the boy. "I'm sorry, no. I am her sister, Alexandria. Thank you for saving me" I said. "Oh! Sorry for the mistake your highness, you two just look so much alike. And your welcome!" He said, putting his hands on his sides and standing victoriously.
"Who...are you? And how did you defeat that assassin?" I asked. "Assassin? That was no assassin payout highness, that was the Demon Knight!" The boy said. "Demon knight?" I asked. "Yeah, the demon knight. He's the one sent by the demon King to kill you!" The boy said. "Demon.....I'm confused" I said. The boy smiled. "I'll explain if you can lead me to your sister. Let's just say....I know a lot about the enemy" he said. I nodded. "I'll lead you to her, but you still never told me who you are" I said.
"Oh! My mistake my queen! My name is Takeshi! It's an honor to meet you! And, will your wounds be alright?" Takeshi asked. "Yes, thank you. And please, call me Alexandria" I said. "Whatever you say....Alexandria" he said. I nodded. "Well then, follow me, because you have a lot of explaining to do" I said. After that, I led Takeshi down the castle halls and towards Ryia's room. I didn't know who this young boy was, but I didn't care. He saved my life, and he was here to help.
