I stared blankly at Jay in front of me. He had just explained what a mate was and I didn't know what to think. I didn't really feel hatred because he told me the truth. To be honest I was even more scared. I was scared of what the future would bring to me and how terrible it might be having to be with Jay for the rest of my life. I mean sure, I did have a little attraction to him but he was still the enemy.
Nothing was going to change that.
I narrowed my eyes towards him and he sat across from me with a little fear in his dark eyes, "I still hate you and your kind. Nothing will change my mind about that."
He let his shoulders sag as he took on a sad expression. Something deep down, really deep down, was telling me that I should feel sorry for saying that to his face. However, that was so deep down I could barely feel it. So right now it wasn't on my top list of priorities at the moment.
"I figured you would say that," he sighed deeply letting the air out of his nose as he ran his hand through his black hair which made it even messier then before. He stood up and I watched carefully with my eyes to see what he was going to do. He left the living room and walked into the kitchen. I hear the refrigerator open. Great, now he's eating our food.
I decided to go make sure he didn't eat all of the food, because my family and I still need to eat, and silently made my way to the kitchen. When I got there Jay was sitting on one of the white bar stools eating a red apple. There was some sounds starting to come from outside, so I figuered everyone was on their way back.
I walked past Jay and over to the large glass doors that showed me what was going on out in the backyard. For a moment it seemed as though everything was peaceful. The peace didn't last very long though because the first thing I saw walking out og the bushes was a werewolf holding a dagger to my mothers throat. It wasn't just any werewolf, it was that werewolf. The one that kidnapped me and kept me on a boat for a week unconcious.
This time I didn't freeze. This time I took action.
I turned to Jay, who was looking out the door with complete horror, and ran towards him. He didn't know what was coming to him and dropped his apple on the ground as I made contact with his body. He made a little puff sound as I knocked the air out of him and a grunt as I pushed him into the wall. He starred at me in shock because I was pressing my body against his against the wall, but he didn't say anything. But, that might have been because I winded him.
I stared at his dark brown eyes and he stared back into my yellow ones. Only I knew what was happening at this moment because he seemed to be stuck in a slight daze until the sound of a car horn starteled him and he jumped.
We were no longer against the clean white wall in my kitchen, but rather a brick wall covered in grafittii. "Where are we?" He asked after a moment.
I took a step away from him and looked around, "We are in New York. Where I used to live."
"Why... How...?" He seemed to be at a loss for words. This was my only solution to our problem. If we were going to help everyone back on that little island, we were going to need some help from some of my New York friends.
"I teleport, duh," I said with a slight laugh at the end. "We are here to get some friends that can help us. Plus I didn't want to leave you there when I could have some company. Even if my company has to be you."
"What's that supposed to mean?" He seemed a little offended.
"Listen here," I poked his chest, "I don't like you. Mate or not. You're a werewolf and I don't get along with werewolves. Now can we get going please?"
He looked more than a little hurt at by what I said, but then he got an idea, "Give me one week!"
"One week for what?" I raised my eye brow at him. This idea of his was actually going to worry me. I mean, what could he think up in that brain of his? Him and I haven't even had a real conversation till now, I know nothing about him.
"One week to prove to you that not all werewolves are bad, that some actually are on your side. Just let me prove to you that we are on the same side and that you don't have to fear me." He pleaded as he got closer to me and I got further away from him. By the end of it my back was up against the other brick wall and his hands were on my shoulders holding me there.
I knew I could easliy make him let go of me but I think I was experiencing butterflies, in my stomach... And if I could read my own emotions, I think I liked it.
"How are you going to do all that in one week?" I tried to not let my voice fail me and show to him what I was really feeling. That stupid feel I had locked up inside me was coming out and I really didn't like it. "I've had this belief my whole life."
Jay smiled, "I can. Don't worry."
I raised my eye brow at him, "Don't get cocky with me boy." I pushed him off me and he stepped back a few steps, "Now lets get going, we probably don't have much time."
After leading Jay through constant crowds of people through the streets of New York, we managed to end up at the one house I was looking for. I quickly ran up to it and knocked on the door. Jay followed behind me at a distance. He looked uneasy, and I wouldn't blame him. This is the house of three witches after all.
The door swung open and standing there with the biggest grin on her face was Elyza. "Hello my dear! How are you do...." She saw Jay behind me and stopped talking, "Why do you have a..."
"Jay, this is Elyza. Elyza, this is Jay." I motioned between them. "Now you all know each other yadda, yadda, lets get on with it. I'm hear for your help." I stepped inside past Elyza and waved to Kalia and Maeve who were sitting on the couch eating a bowl of chips. They waved back with smiles then frowned when they saw Jay.
"Ok, so we got a huge problem and we need your help. My family, Jeremy's family and Jay's pack has been... I'd love to say kidnapped, but they could have been killed. Maybe they are just fine, I don't honestly know. But we con'e go back home for fear of meeting the same fate as them."
I just kept blabbering till Maeve lifted her hand telling me to be quiet. She's mute, but I somehow always know what she is trying to tell me. Right now she's telling me they already know what has happened to the island.
"Oh, and the werewolves to attacked were rouges," Jay cut in and the three girls galrred at him.
"Jay, don't speak. They hate werewolves more than I do," I rolled my eyes at him. "Now could you pretty please help us?"
"Of course we will help you!" Kalia said all excitedly as she jumped up and ran to me. "We would never miss an opportunity to get out of school!"
I laughed, "I'm so glad I'm being home schooled from now on."
HEY! Sorry this took a while. Hope you liked it! Elyza, Maeve, and Kalia are actually the three witches in a story I've been working on called: The Good, The Bad, and The Beasty. This takes place before all of that story happens, but I figurted, why not put them in here!!
Tell me what you think!!! :)
