"Is having a mate like, well, when you get lost in their eyes and everything around you disappears and nothing really matters, you just want to hold them and never let go? Because if you let go, then you'll fall to your death and then drown."

It was lunchtime, Jeremy asked this question to Jay who looked at him horrified for a second before answering, "yeah, pretty much."

Then I was the horrified one. I never tried to look into Jay's eyes because I didn't want to feel like I was already drowning. I didn't know what to do with those feeling so I tried to get rid of them. Mostly by avoiding eye contact with Jay, and I think he knew that. He never pushed though.

Why did Jeremy want to know about this?

"Okay, thanks," Jeremy said and then went back to his lunch food. I was very alarmed. Jay looked at me with the same alarm on his face.

"Why do you want to know that?" I asked after no one said anything.

Jeremy shrugged, "I want to know if its the same for Werewolves and Legions."

Jay and I looked at each other alarmed again.

"Did you happen to meet your mate?" Jay asked. This conversation was gaining the attention of everyone at the table. All werewolves who knew who we are because they were kidnapped earlier by rouges, and well you know that story.

Jeremy shrugged, "maybe."

This was news.

Jay continued, "if you touch your mate then you'll feel tingles. Then you'll know for sure."

"Ever since Raven got electricity, anyone who touches her feels tingles," Jeremy rolled his eyes.

Jay frowned, "it's different."

I laughed lightly, and so did a couple of the werewolves around us. Jay would be the only one who knew the difference.

"Who is it?" I whispered to Jeremy but everyone at this table obviously heard me so Jeremy avoided answering my question. He seemed to be stuck in his own thoughts. So it must have not been a werewolf or he would have asked sooner and if it was a werewolf then he would have had his mate telling him these things and not Jay.

Jeremy just frowned at me and kept at his lunch.

Jay and I both gave each other a look that said we would find out sooner or later. This was very exciting. Well, finding someone else's soul mate is very exciting. Dealing with my own doom, less so.

I mean, I think I thought I'd find another Legion out there by surprise or maybe settle for a really cool human. Never in a million years did I think I would end with a werewolf. Let alone that mates were a thing, or that Jeremy would find out that Legion's could have mates too. This was all just super confusing and a lot to wrap my head around.

My mom is meant to be with a werewolf and that's why my dad told us they were evil. But they're not evil, just my mom's mate is crazy and has been stalking her on a boat for over 25 years. Then I have a mate, who is a werewolf, and Jeremy has one too, but they're human - we think.

You could say things were complicated.

"What are you thinking about?" Jay asked with a little concern.

I snapped out of my head, "sorry, just going through the list called my life is insane."

That made both Jay and Jeremy laugh.

After school Jay asked if I wanted to ride with him back up the hill. Jeremy didn't seem phased when I said I was catching a ride with Jay instead. He seemed too caught up in his own head. Which was understandable after the first day of school at a new place with someone you think is a soul mate.
