Chapter 1: Divorced

"Sophie, Bring your suitcases down!" my mom yelled from downstairs. I had to get ready to go to the airport. I was staying at my dad's for a couple of months.

Ever since my parents got divorced, things have been a lot different. I miss seeing my mom happy. She's always so caught up with her job. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad she has a job, but it always makes her so stressed.

Sometimes even to the point where she wants to get wasted. I usually have to keep any alcoholic drinks out of her reach. Not literally! I'm only 5'5" while she's 5'8"! She hasn't been the same since she and dad got divorced. She used to be so carefree and calm but now she's always so tensed and stressed.

I live with my mom and visit my dad a few times a month. I don't mind the fact that they're divorced though. They got divorced two years ago she hasn't been the same since. I don't know why he would divorce her though. She's pure beauty! My mom's Italian and has deep green eyes, full pink lips, shoulder length, thick, straight, black silky hair, long and thick eyelashes, soft and fair skin and she is so kind and wise but after the divorce, all that beauty has drained out. She always used to laugh, but she barely even smiles now.

Well speaking of the way my mom looks, let's move on to my dad. He was born here in the USA. He has soft brown hair, chestnut brown eyes, chin dimples and a kind smile. I'm a shrimp compared to him because he's 6'2"! But he's amazing and I love him so much!

And then there's me! I'm 5'5", I have long wavy brown hair that almost reaches my belly button. I also have blue eyes, chin dimples, full pink lips, thick lashes, small hands, acne free skin, and although I'm skinny, I have nice curves. People call me beautiful, but I don't believe it. I'm always so self conscious.

"Soph! Get down here right now!" my mom screamed, zoning me out of my thoughts. I got off my bed and changed into a pair of black shorts, a white tank top, a red cardigan and red Vans to top it off. I put my hair in a messy bun, applied some light makeup and did a last check to make sure everything was in my suitcase; after all I will be staying there for a few months!

I finished high school a month ago, so visiting my dad in LA wouldn't be too bad! However it was a 6 hour flight, and that part I wasn't really looking forward to. I did a quick check and headed downstairs to find my mom crying. <Ughh mom! Are you really crying? I'm 18 now! And it'll only be a few months!>. My mom looked up at me. <You're growing up so fast! I will miss you so much! Take care of yourself, okay?>. <Sure mom, yea!>. I sighed.

I took my suitcase to the door and hugged my mom one last time. <Take care mom! I'll be back before you know it!>. Surprisingly that reassured my mom. I didn't want her to have another emotional breakdown, so I took a cab to the airport. And before I knew it, I was already in the plane. I slipped my earbuds in and listened to the soothing voice of Ed Sheeran as the plane took off. The first thing I was gonna do when I reached LA was sleep, which is what I usually do whenever I visited. Little did I know that this trip would change my life forever.
