Last year around this time, early October, when school had just started and I was still a normal human being. I woke up on the first day of the last year of school, and I had this strange feeling that something bad was gonna happen, something that will change everything. We lived in a small town called RedVille. It was a safe town, nothing bad ever happened so that's why I was so worried. I shook the idea out of my head and put on some clothes and went downstairs to get some breakfast and leave for school, and that was when I saw a note on the counter that said 'We'll be back in a few days, love mom and dad.'
My parents are in some kind of a council for something I don't even know of and I don't think that I even care. So they travel a lot, and I barely get to see them. Every time they are out of town my uncle comes to stay with us. Me and my older brother, Jordan.
Jordan is two years older than me. He is 20 years old, and is currently at college, but moving back home in a few days because my parents wanted him to for some unknown reason.
I took an apple and I was about to leave when I heard a familiar voice from the living room.
"Mickayla! Your cool uncle is here!"
It was my uncle. Lione Jones.
"Hi uncle Lione." I said as I wrapped my hands around him and he gave me a kiss on the forehead.
"How's my favorite niece?" He asked.
"I'm great." I nodded.
We talked for a few minutes about how we've been, since we haven't seen each other for only 2 months so we didn't have much to catch up on. I heard a honk and looked out the window and saw my friends. Evan, Nina and Andrea, waiting for me in the car and signaling me to hurry. I said goodbye to Lione and left the house.
I got in the car and sat at the back next to Andrea.
"You're not gonna say hi?!" Said Evan.
"What's wrong?" Asked Nina.
"Is it your parents again?" Andrea added.
They know me so well. And I know them so well.
"Yeah." I said with a sigh.
"Cheer up that means you got the whole house to yourself." Evan said trying to cheer me up.
"Not quite." I said. "My uncle Lione is back."
Andrea's eyes widened and she looked at me instantly. Andrea and Lione dated for a while when my parents lived in New York for 6 months last year. Now everytime he comes to RedVille they start acting like children and can't stand each other. They have confused feelings. Really confused. I don't blame her. He is quite attractive, he's tall, handsome and in his late twenties. He's practically every girl's dream. I knew that Andrea wanted to see him so I asked them to come to my house for dinner and to just hang out. And before I even said the last word she cut me off.
"We'd love to." She said. With a bright smile on her face.
Nina and Evan looked at her trying to contain a smile.
"What? You'd love to! Right?" She said.
"Sure." They both said, and smiled.
And we drove straight to school.
