Day 7: M*A*S*H Compound, Swamp, 2100 Hours

Slowly Jess walked back to the Swamp with lots of things on her mind. There was no sign of Winchester, only Hawkeye sitting on his cot.

"Hi Hawkeye," Jess said, sitting on her cot.

"Hi Jess," Hawkeye yawned.

"Winchester tried talking to Dalli," Jess said quietly.

Hawkeye looked at Jess like she was kidding, but somehow he knew she wasn't.

"Jess, why don't you try to get some sleep," he said, but it was more like a command than a statement.

Jess tiredly nodded her head and lay down, just as B.J. came back into the Swamp.

"How's Dalli?" Hawkeye asked B.J.

"Just as crabby as ever about being kept in post-op," B.J. said good-naturedly. "But she's getting better. Her dislocated ankle is all healed, and the burns are getting better, but I think she might have an infection in the big gash on her arm. And I'm worried about that concussion she had, it's not healing properly," B.J. said, keeping his voice low so as to not wake Jess.

A concerned look crossed Hawkeye's face and he said, "I should probably check on her again before we turn in for the night."

"I just gave her some medicine to help her sleep. She won't admit it, but I can tell she's having a hard time sleeping, it might have something to do with her head injury," B.J. said worriedly.

"I suppose I can't really talk to her if she's asleep then, now can I?" Hawkeye mused, laying back on his cot with a sigh.

"I hope she sleeps well tonight, I might be able to convince Colonel Potter to let me take those restraining straps off of her tomorrow," B.J. said as he climbed into his cot, ready to go to bed.

"I'm sure Dalli will be overjoyed about that," Hawkeye said quietly, only half-sarcastic.
