Before stepping out of the house, Johnny Ghost faintly heard a thud, assuming it was only Johnny Toast flopping down on the couch. Toast was always editing through his book when there was free time.
Ghost felt bad, though. What's wrong with the guy? He turned the key in the ignition of his car. Could an evil entity actually break through the P.R.E. machines? He looked back at the old house, pondering over the idea. He faced the steering wheel again. Nah. They aren't intelligent enough. Still, though, Johnny has to pay for that wall damage...
Johnny Ghost had been driving for an hour before his car sputtered and stopped in the middle of nowhere.
"What--this can't be happening, not now!"
He stepped out of the red 2005 model sedan and booted the head bumper in distaste. "Piece of trash!"
He didn't want to spend any more digital dollars on the 4G per- month plan when he had so much physical change otherwise. Johnny looked around for any sight of a telephone box or building that would hold a phone. He found nothing to his disappointment.
Fine, then. If it'll save me the day I can deal for now. Ghost attempted to dial his home phone to get Toast twice, but no such luck. Perhaps he is asleep... It's a bad timing for that, Ghost thought.
Johnny Toast was always a light sleeper, but if he really needed a nap, he wouldn't be up for hours.
Ghost was getting frustrated. He couldn't even imagine leaving the car behind--it was pretty expensive, considering he didn't ever get much cash from ghost hunting--but he couldn't avoid the idea, either.Hesitating at first, he finally managed to get all of the more important, per se, items of value out of the unmoving vehicle. He left only unwanted belongings such as scraps of paper from previous episodes, junk mail(with marked out addresses, of course!), coupons expired way beyond date, and various other items nobody would need.
Good thing I conveniently brought a man purs--handbag! I definitely wouldn't walk around with a purse...
He took out his cell phone again, grieving the amount of overdue money he'd have to unwillingly give up to TNT Explosions! Wireless.
"Where is a Toaster when you need one?" Ghost said quietly. "...Wait, what am I saying? I don't think Toast will be able to fix this in the first place. Or at least, I don't think he's participated in any learning experience involved in engineering... He probably wouldn't have helped in the slightest."
He then realized what he had been saying. "Why am I talking about Toast behind his back, anyway? I have to call the local traffic control!"
As Johnny Ghost was waiting for the company to pick up his call, he noticed a black Mountaineer car coming his way.
"Oh crap!" He screamed as he ran back into his car to set up the emergency lights. He was still holding the phone, which hadn't yet stopped ringing on hold.
His car's lights clearly went off, but the driver behind him ignored them rudely and kept on flooring-it to his location.
Ghost flailed around like an idiot outside of his car, yelling at the driver to stop, but to no avail.
In a split slow motion second, he sprinted as far away from his vehicle as possible shrieking "NONONONONO" as the stranger clashed with it, creating a small explosion right before his eyes; his poor, poverty-stricken eyes.
He watched his beautiful, expensive but useless red sedan burst up in flames ten feet before him, along with his ancient (only) flip phone which was the only way to contact Toast.
