10050 Cielo Drive was the former place of Terry Melcher. Rudi Altobelli now owned it. Actress Sharon Marie Tate, (January 24, 1943 – August 9, 1969), the star of various horror and cult movies like "Eye of the Devil", (1965)-directed by John Lee Thompson, (1 August 1914 – 30 August 2002); and "The Fearless Vampire Killers", (directed by her husband Roman Polanski), (Rajmund Roman Thierry Polański; 18 August 1933-) in 1967, rented the place in February. While Thompson directed "Tiger Bay", (1959), and several Charles Bronson actioners, Polanski made horror movies, including "Repulsion"; "Rosemary's baby", (1968); and "The Tenant", (1976); and "Chinatown", (1974), a period thriller. *In 1977, Polanski had underage sex with a minor, and as a result, has been threatened with jail in America if he arrives. When he got "Best Director" for "The Pianist", 2002, he couldn't receive the award for fear of going to jail. He has been living in exile in France since for almost 46 years*.

Shahrokh Hatami, Sharon Tate's photographer friend, saw Manson. "What do you want?", he asked; Manson answered: "Looking for a man. Name's Terry Melcher. I got some songs for him to listen to", he looked around.
"Don't know him", Hatami said, "...try the back alley". Manson walked to the guest house. He watched Hatami. He shivered. "He's not here, man. I'll come back. And, when I do, he'll be here". Manson glided away like a phantom. Hatami thought of call the cops, but he didn't.
Later that night
Charles Manson came back.
Altobelli spoke to him through the screen door.
"I don't Melcher. He's in Malibu", he said. *This was true. Melcher headed there after his "split up" with actress Candace Bergen*.
Manson played some songs he worked on with Dennis Wilson. "Nice...I am in the entertainment business", Altobelli said. And then Manson left.
When Sharon Tate and Altobelli flew to Rome, Italy, she asked, quote, "Did that creepy-looking guy go back to the guest house the day before?"; "Yes", Altobelli answered. And, as they relaxed on their plane seat, Sharon Tate shivered.
