Chapter 10
The next day felt like a regular day until lunch time because by then, Glenn joined in our small group. I felt a bit uneasy for spending time with Glenn and April, not because I know April had a crush on Glenn, but because she kept on sending me worried and hesitant looks.
I forgot to tell her about yesterday when I started to take Glenn as a friend. I kept my eyes on April as she attempts to give Glenn the cold shoulder which I thought was a wrong move since they had lunch together yesterday.
The bell rang and the first thing I did after we gave our trays to the lunch ladies was pull April to the other direction fron the guys.
"What is up with you today?" I asked as soon as we were out of the guys' view.
"Why are we having lunch with Glenn? I thought you didn't like hanging out with him?"
"I didn't. But after yesterday I just-"
"Yesterday?" she snapped. "What happened yesterday?" she pushed me to the side of the hallway and stopped by a set of lockers.
"April we'll be late again if we don't get to class right now."
"Tell me first."
"No."
"Time is ticking, Telly." she raised her left hand infront of us and tapped the watch wrapper around her wrist.
"We better go."
"You will tell me while we're walking to class, right?"
"No."
"Then we'll be late." She leaned on the locker and raised an eyebrow at me.
"Fine! Let's go!" I pulled her through the now less crowded hallway. I must admit, I'm kinda excited to tell her about Glenn and I. I'm pretty sure she would love the fact that I'm beginning to accept him as a friend.
Lucky for us, April and I had the same fourth period class for today, and as promised, I told her everything that covered Glenn and I starting from the bet about Mr. Ward and the girls, how we were supposed to make her come with us to the mall but went on with only the three of us because she was busy with Chace after school, to how we spent our time in my place, until they left and went home. My little tale ended by the time we got to class and as expected, April was indeed happy about the good news.
She asked me a lot of questions including if Glenn and I could possibly be together again which I honestly doubted because I wasn't going to give him the possible chance of using me as a tool for pleasure like before, and I created a boundary for how I see him which couldn't/shouldn't ever be more than a friend or a best friend anymore.
I still kept in mind not to trust him entirely if I don't want what happened before to happen again no matter how ridiculous it could be. Of course I didn't tell April about that one thing because there was a slight possibility that she might go all anxious every time I'm in the same room as Glenn like during lunch today, and I really don't want that to happen again.
The day went by in a blur. It felt like a regular school day, which it really is, but with Glenn as a new member of my small circle of friends in our grade.
As usual, we went straight to my place after school to just chill out. April talked non stop about making her own club. She said she already talked to Ms. Grimes, the extracurricular head of our school, and all she needs now is at least two to five other companions in running the club. Being the good friend that I was, I volunteered first then Leroy followed and he also volunteered for Glenn. I saw Glenn's eyes widen through the rear view mirror before he gave up on Leroy's pleading and joined in.
