Chapter 12
"It's killing me," I buried my face on April's pillow as I said that. It's a friday night and we're back in her condo for a sleep-over.
"So you still have a thing for Glenn," she said sitting on the other side of the bed. She could really read me because everything she says about me is always true.
I lifted my head, looked at her and nodded with pure seriousness in my face. I felt the heat crawling up my face as I did and couldn't help but smile at the thought of Glenn and I, and to hide it, I dropped my head on to the pillow again.
It has been more than a week since the day in Mr. Ward's storage room, and since then, I haven't talked to him nor Glenn. He's been missing during lunchtime, and during classes, he would stay away from me as much as possible which makes me feel worse and more hurt. It's very frustrating how I'm not being able to talk to them though it's actually my fault that this is happening. I feel like I'm turning into one of those drama-making girls which I hate so much.
"It's killing me," I repeated through the pillow.
"What did you say?" April asked.
I moved and layed flat on my back before repeating myself. "This is killing me." I sighed. "I'm dead inside."
"Aw, Telly." I didn't notice the tears that had formed in my eyes until April came closer to me and gave me a hug. "Things will return to normal soon. Just look at the bright side, the new uniform looks good on you."
I didn't notice that I was still in my uniform until she said that. I groaned to myself before getting up and heading to the bathroom to take a quick shower. I put on my favorite sleeping dress before coming out of the bathroom and inviting April for coffee in the livingroom.
I remember when Mr. Ward invited me to coffee during class hours. Sigh.
"I haven't visited J-Lo for a while now," April said.
I have. I've been paying him a visit everyday after school and I've made a habit of doing my homework on the table beside him.
"Let's have lunch there tomorrow," I suggested.
Her eyes lit up in excitement. She gets pretty excited about the simplest things. She slid my cup of coffee to me from across the table and I took it with a "thanks."
April and I talked a lot about TV shows and Youtube trends while we finished our cups of coffee until the metal version of The Walking Dead's Theme Song played loudly from the bedroom. Knowing it was my ringtone, I got up from my seat and went to get it while April brought our empty cups to the sink.
An unknown number was flashing on the screen, and the picture was blank.
I pressed answer before holding the device on my ear.
"Hello?" A husky guy's voice asked from the other side of the line.
"Hey." I've got this act of pretending to know people who calls or texts me, so... yeah.
"May I come over?" he sounded unsure.
I narrowed my eyes at the window, forgetting that he couldn't see me. "Depends on who you are."
He stayed silent for a while, and I made my way to the livingroom where April's watching Glee, then outside to the balcony.
He mumbled something I didn't catch just before I slid the glass door shut.
"Pardon?"
"It's Ben."
My mind blanked all of a sudden before I became excited, relieved, then curious to why he was calling.
