"wake up milk!"
"stop f.ucking calling me that!"
i pushed open the door to michael's bedroom seeing him tug up his jeans. "i am up, for your information."
"makes my job easier then." i fixed my hair in the mirror before moving downstairs to the kitchen. i grabbed a pan and some eggs and got to work on breakfast.
"get down here!" i shouted, but cringed. i sound like my mother. soft footsteps patted down the stairs, michael strolling into the kitchen a couple seconds later. "you're cooking?"
"do you want to starve?" i snapped, moving the eggs around once more and sliding them onto a plate. i handed it to michael and he thanked me. "grouchy."
"don't use that tone with me."
"sorry, mom."
michael smiled from his plate, chewing his eggs with a grin on his face. "you're not going to eat?"
"i already did." i retorted, putting away everything and setting the pan to the side.
though i didn't, nobody had to know that.
"ready?"
"no."

"perfect, you're getting better." i faked a smile towards the man that was my father and set the gun on the table. i cracked my knuckles and let a yawn escape my lips as i left the room. "i'm going home."
"it's a long walk, you sure?" he asked questionly and i nodded. "i'll be fine."
i grabbed my bag from the floor and smiled towards the people at the front desk. the lady on the phone asking for an emergency was the only one who smiled back. as i made my way out of the familiar building, i fixed my backpack on my shoulders and made my way home.
that is until i was interrupted.
my back slammed roughly against the brick wall, a small little blade held up to my throat and i giggled. the man whore all black, hoodie covered in stains and a mask over his face. "why are you wearing that in public? bit suspicous isn't it?"
through all the years of training i was given, i was always told to stay calm. no matter what it was, don't panic, don't fear, don't show any type of emotion that you are being threatened.
"be careful with that knife too, don't want to cut yourself." i poked his wrist but he only tightened his grip on it. "come on man, saftey first."
when he didn't speak, i assumed it was because he thought people would recongnize his voice. i raised an eyebrow at him. "cat got your tongue?"
"shut the fuck up."
i snorted.
"speak the fuck up then." i grabbed his arm and shoved him back, watching him stumble and drop the knife from his hands. "nice wedding ring."
the gold band stuck out on his finger perfectly and i read over the letters. "l.d.c. that her name? how many kids you got?"
the man didn't speak, instead making a run out of the alley he had dragged me in to. i rolled my eyes, knowing he was passing by the police station with a knife full on view in his hands. how stupid can you actually get?
i grabbed my back that had fallen off my shoulders, dusting it off and putting it back on my back before continuing on my way home. "i'm home!"
"dinner is almost done." my mother called out from the kitchen and i grinned and ran up stairs. i could tell her what happened when she finished.
i stripped off my shirt and swapped it with another one since it was covered in sweat and other things and walked towards the balcony doors. michael was sitting on a little chair he had set up, laptop in hand as he scrolled down what looked like tumblr. "hey."
"how was practice?" he asked curiously and i shrugged and leaned against the railing. "good, i'm doing better than last week."
"that's good, you'll be fighting crimes in no time then." he chuckled.
or commiting them
"one day." i sighed. "do you want to eat dinner with us? i think it's chicken tonight."
"i'll be over in a bit just give me a couple more minutes." he waved me off, eyes trained on the screen in front of him. "what are you doing?"
"don't worry about it." he shut his laptop closed and i let it slide. "let me go change real quick."
i nodded and made my way back downstairs. michael followed soon after giving my mom a heartattack. "didn't know you'd be joining us tonight."
"sorry joy." he smiled apologetically but she waved it off. "just give me a warning next time."
i took a seat at the table, michael sitting next to me while the plates were brought out and the chicken and mashed potatoes were placed on the table. i groaned as she hesitated handing over the serving spoons.
"mom!" i whined, reaching out for the large knife to cut the chicken but she moved her hand away. "do you remember when you were little? do you understand why i hesitate?" she raised an eyebrow at me and michael blushed and looked down.
"you two were like wild animals and this was your power source." she exclaimed and handed over the knife and spoon. michael took the spoon and i licked my lips as i was handed the knife. i cut myself a large slice out of the breast and piled it onto my plate, michael making grabby hands for the knife and my mother chuckled from the kitchen.
"share, calum."
i gave the knife to michael and he handed me the spoon, switching and piling our plates once again before eating. "joy, you put joy in this."
"that doesn't even make sense." i scoffed. "then it would have been cannibalism and-"
"i liked it better when you weren't talking."
i grumbled to myself, picking at my food. "i almost got robbed today."
a fork hit the plate and my head snapped up. my mother was leaning across the table with her eyes wide. "you almost got what?"
"nothing serious." i shrugged. "besides, you like it better when i'm not talking."
"don't use that tone with me."
"so you do have that mom att-"
"michael not now."
"explain." my mother pressed and i slouched in my chair. "he just held a knife up to me but then ran off. dad's probably taking care of him anyways, he wore a mask and had a knife on full view. not to mention he ran the direction of the police station."
i watched as she relaxed a little bit and michael cleared his throat. "can we be excused?"
"go ahead." she stuffed another bite of chicken in her mouth before getting up and collecting the plates. michael led me upstairs to the bedroom and sat me down. i laid down on my back, michael crawling over me and plopping himself on top of me. "i'm so tired."
"it's only seven." i glanced at him and he shrugged his shoulders. "i'm not tired."
"you just said you were." i pointed out but decided to just leave it, knowing he didn't know what he was saying half the time when he was sleepy. "it's only wednesday anyways."
"i hate school though." he pouted and i nodded. "i know."
"has anyone messed with you?" i chuckled, revenge starting to play in my mind. "just christina."
"what'd she do?"
"made fun of my hair."
"so what do we do about it?"
"have fun with her hair." michael smiled a little, looking up at me and getting up. he sat on my thighs now. "i know where she lives."
"then let's get going then."
