Chapter 3- The Masked figure

They had all gotten home and they were out off breath. The whole was in silence for no one made a single sound. It was only when Donald Davenport came in and asked them what happened to them.

" what happened to you guys? I've been worried sick. You haven't answered my calls" asked Mr Davenport who had his phone still in his hands. The Lab Rats, Leo and Maria all looked at each other with worried and scared stares. Donald was waiting for them to answer and so they couldn't hide their thoughts any longer, they had to tell Mr Davenport. 

" Well, you see, we were just..." and as Bree explained, Maria ( who was holding Chase's hand) noticed something was missing and when she realized her bag was missing, she had let go of Chase's hand and gasps. Bree stopped explaining and both she and Mr Davenport and the other guys all stared at me. 

" what's wrong?" asked Chase who looked her in the face. She just stood there, frozen on the spot. her eyes wide open. 

" oh my.. I left my bag at school.. I need to go and get it back.." Maria said as she was about to leave someone grabbed her arm. It was Chase who met her eyes. 

" I have to, I have important information inside.. please... Mr Davenport, my bag contains private information, and if it gets in the wrong hands then.." But before she could finish her sentence, Davenport replied with " Fine. Go... but someone has to come with you. I can't risk you going out this late" 

I  nodded and soon enough, Adam's arm shot through the air and in his usual childlike behaviour, that can drive everyone mad but at the same time, brings a smile to their faces, he said " Oh I want to  come.. please, I'm good at these things" 

Maria smiled and giggled for a while before replying with " okay Adam, let's go. Come on" and with this, Adam smiled and wrapped his arm around Maria's shoulders as a friendly gesture. And before they left the house Mr Davenport said " Hey, good luck and be safe. If you have any problems then remember you can contact us" 

Maria and Adam smiled and they waved goodbye as they left the house. Once they were out of the door, Donald Davenport bit his lower lip and was now pacing. The remaining Davenport kids took notice and Leo had to ask " Hey, Big D, what's wrong?" 

Donald stopped pacing and looked at them. He was about to say something, but he swallowed back his words. But soon he managed to get the words of what wanted to say out of his mouth.  

" I'm worried" 

" Worried about what?" asked Bree as she crossed her arms. Once again, Mr Davenport was silent. But it didn't take long before he answered again.

" it's what inside Maria's bag that worries me... for if she says it has important information in the bag then Maria is right. If that gets in the wrong hands then we... we...we..."

"We will all end up in a far of distance in outer space then we get attacked by pig zombies," said Leo who then took a deep breath before speaking again. Mr Davenport, Chase and Bree looked at Leo with raised eyebrows. 

" oh okay... but Mr Davenport, I don't think we need to worry. I'm sure the information is safe and Maria and Adam a handle it. Besides, Maria knows what she is doing... she has the greatest smiles and her eyes are so bright. Ever time she comes to see me, she..."

" She smiles and kisses me on the cheeks," said Bree and Leo in unison, as they rolled their eyes. 

" Chase we know... stop repeating it," said Leo 

" now please shut up loverboy," said Bree as she passed her younger brother and went to the kitchen to get something to eat. Leo nodded and shrugged his shoulders at his brother and went with Bree to the kitchen. Chase was still with Mr Davenport in which, Donald also shrugged his shoulders and walked to where Bree and Leo are, which left Chase alone. He soon, joined the others, as they were having dinner.  

 Meanwhile, with Adam and Maria, they have finally got back to the school and noticed that the door was still open, and this made Adam and Maria suspicious. The doors weren't always open by this hour. It was almost, 10:30 in the evening.    

" Why are the doors open?" asked Maria as she leads Adam to the main corridor of the school building. Soon, Adam went ahead of Maria and used his bionics to scan the area. He hadn't found Maria's bag but he did find something else. 

" I think I found something,"  said Adam as he turned to Maria. Maria had a smile on her face as she rushed to Adam. 

" Really. Is it my bag?" she asked Adam. Adam looked confused and then shook his head. 

"no... but I did find something else... and it doesn't look like your bag.," said Adam and soon he went and ran for the object that he found. When he came back, Maria noticed he was holding some sort of painting. 

" What's that?" asked Maria, who was trying to get a better view of the object. And when she had finally got a better view she almost vomited. It was a painting of Principle Perry and the rest is just too disturbing to say. 

" I now have to get that thing off my mind," said Maria who then gave a disgusted look towards Adam. Adam on the other didn't take notice and soon enough, Adam soon got disturbed by the painting and so with his bionic strength, he through the painting as far as he could. 

" Come one, let's just find my bag and get out of here," said Maria who then went and looked for the bag. Adam nodded and also started for the missing bag. it was nearly 2 hours but they eventually found the bag. 

" Found it," said Adam who was holding Maria's bag. Maria smiled and hugged Adam. As she took her bag from Adam she quickly looked inside and sighed in relief. Her private items are okay.

" Thanks, Adam. You're a lifesaver" 

" don't worry, I get that a lot" 

Suddenly, they both hear a strange noise.  Maria and Adam could make out a shadow in the cafeteria. Adam and Maria screamed and this was when the shadow disappeared and then appeared a masked man. Maria knew what to do and with her earpiece in her ear, she was able to contact Mr Davenport. 

" Mr Davenport... We're under attack... we need back up now" 

Back home, Mr Davenport, Leo, Bree and Chase were already about to go to bed when Donald got a call from Maria. He stopped in his tracks and he was talking back to Maria on the other side. 

" Okay, I'll be there. Don't worry, we'll be there?" 

" What's wrong, Mr Davenport?" asked Bree as she went to her father. 

Mr Davenport was getting his coat and his keys. 

" Just get in the car, and I'll explain later... now we just have to get to school" 

And so they went to Mission Creek High, and when they got there, they found Maria and Adam on the ground. Chase helped Maria up while Adam was helped by Bree and Leo. 

" What happened?" asked Mr Davenport, as he went and hugged both Adam and Maria. 

" Well, when Adam found my bag, I was so glad that looked just to check if everything was there, then I and Adam show a shadow going past the Study hall. After that, we both screamed as the masked figure had found us. Adam used his blast wave at him, but he deflected it." replied Maria 

" yeah, that was creepier than the painting" said Adam as he shivered as well as Maria. 

" What painting?" asked Chase who hugged Maria

" Nothing..." said Adam 

Once they were calm and quiet, Donald said 

" okay, let's go home. This place is creeping me out. Anyway, we can discuss this tomorrow" 

And so, all of the Davenport kids yawned and when they got home, they went to their capsules part from Leo and they went to bed. But for tomorrow wouldn't be but normal.
