Chapter 19- Always

It's a dream when it seemed so real. He would stay awake, trying to make sense of the dreams he's been having, how Linda had apologised to him, to what she's done. Yet he's been having dreams to what seemed so unlike any other. She stood there, her eyes shining brightly and her smile the same as before.
" you know you're dreaming right?" She said, her voice the same and shy and quite. Soon her figure disappears and he wakes up, sweat running down he's face and soaking he's hair.

He got up and strolled towards the bath room. He ran water down he's face and pull his hands down he's face and sighed.
" what am I doing?" He asked, drying off. He stared in the mirror and looked at he's sunken face. He looked freighted and not normal, yet he's shook it off and went back to bed. He still had the dreams and it wouldn't leave him alone, it still haunted him, for it came coming back for him.

The next morning he's dreams were just the beginning of everlasting dreams. Maria appears in he's dreams and after this it soon starts to come to life. Apparitions began to pop up everywhere; of her, of her image. Chase didn't believe in ghost but this was the weirdest one. The apparitions were faint and seemed like a prank that Adam and Leo would do, but when he asked, they shook their head.
" that's not us mate, we won't be that insensitive" said Leo, he's eyes confused.
" I'm just wondering" Chase replied before heading out for a new job he managed to find. He was working at another technical shop somewhere, and while stacking shelves, he saw her there, just siting in a corner reading her favourite book. Then, the figure looked him in the eyes and spoke one word that seemed so familiar.
"Always"
She disappeared once more and he almost fell from the ladder in he was using to place object on the higher shelves.
" you okay?" Asked a young girl from the ground holding the ladder still.
"Yeah, I'm okay" said Chase as he got down and smiled at the young woman and she smiles back.
" hey um I'm just wondering if you want to..."
He looked unfazed for he knew what was being asked and smiled. He let her finish.
" to... Um going out for dinner with me..."
" well, as friends, sure. I'll see you around Candy" he said and went back to what he was doing.
" oh, right" she quietly said and she did the same.

Meanwhile, Maria was still there with her father and was improving nicely.
" you know you heal fast for some one who was stabbed in the chess" he said, a laugh spilled from he's mouth. Maria mocked he's words and laughed too.
" I didn't realised you had a sense of humour?"
" I don't, I'm just... Never mind, anyway you are almost ready to go home and..."
" I don't really have a home, not really"
" what do you mean?"
" I really just don't have a proper family, that's all"
Her father smiled slightly and pulled he's daughter into a hug.
" you do have a family, and it not just me or your sister. He's family is your family too. They like you and you love. Family isn't just by blood but the companions you make.

The night Chase got ready and went out for that friendly dinner with a friend. He's been working there for a while now, and meeting Candy Shaw got him less thinking of he's loss. Chase got a letter by Maria's father.

Dear Chase,

She's doing okay, she's fine. Maria's wake now and she's making a full recovery. Maria misses you and you need her. She's going to be able to be free today, or somewhere today. Don't lose hope yet my lad, have hope. She's going to be okay.

From James

The letter ends and Chase places it in he's pocket. Chase takes Candy to a local restaurant yet somehow that's was the place where Maria took him for their anniversary.
" this is nice" said Candy, a smile plastered on her face.
" yeah it is"
So they chatted for a while and managed to create comfortable conversations that would please the both but it was starting again. The next time Chase looked up a Candy, it wasn't Candy at all but Maria. Maria's face replaced Candy's and Chase gasps in shock and Candy took notice.
" what? What's the matter?"
" Maria?"
" who's Maria?"
" she's my... my girlfriend"
This sank Candy's heart and she just stormed off without any other word leaving Chase to pay for the bill.

Chase took Candy's reactions as just an over reaction to the situation. Knowing that they are only friends, that it made sense that way. When he got home he was created by huge smiles.
" so how do it go?" Asked Bree trying to be preppy and cheery at the same time.
" well if you count seeing your partly damaged girlfriend's face on the girl you've been asked on a date then, then yeah it was fantastic" Said Chase sarcastically. Bree didn't dare to ask any more questions and decided to leave him alone.

The doorbell rang and it made them jump from their seats, leaving them shocked and confused. Chase dropped he's spoon and fork and headed for the door. Once he opened it he couldn't believe he's eyes, he's voice breaking and he couldn't contain he's emotions. There stood Maria, perfectly healthy  and fine.
" hey" she said. She never looked better and without a signal warning, Chase wrapped himself around Maria and she hugged back.
" I'm so sorry" he whispered and kissed her on the lips. Afterwards she just smiles and continues to hug him for much longer. Soon Maria's father comes along and stands beside he's daughter and coughs slightly. They break apart, both biting their lips to contain their laughter.

The rest o the family went to see the commotion and it felt like shock ran down their spine as they met Maria's gaze.
" Maria, is that you?" Asked Bree taking the note of what seemed to be just an illusion. Maria smiled.
" yeah it's me, good to see you" she said gleefully. With this both girls hugged for a while before releasing.
" she's fine like I promised" James said, he's hair matted but clean.
" well thank you" said Chase in reply
" no thank you, but I better go now"
" don't you want to stay a little longer?" Asked Chase gesturing towards the dinning table. James smiled and shook he's head.
" no I'm good lad, anyway she's got you know and you've got here she'll be fine, anyway I've got another daughter to find, see you around lad"
And before Chase could say another word James was gone. Chase and was glad he was there when he did needed it. He smiled and closed the door. The whole family was there and they've all surrounded Maria.

They laughed and celebrated her wellbeing and her return. After dinner they all went to bed and for the time being Maria stayed downstairs, sleeping on the sofa. The next morning was all good and fine. Maria woke super early and so did Chase and they went bumping in the twilight.
" oh I'm so sorry" Said Maria
" no I'm sorry" replied Chase. They both laughed and soon hugged each other, the hug warm and calming.
" I love you" said Chase kissing her forehead.
" I love you more, you know what I mean" she laughed some more before calming back down again.
" After all this time..."
" Always" they said together in clear unison. The reference was too much and yet just one word could last a life time.
