Chapter 6- Smiles and Ashes

Last night was a nightmare for Maria and sleep was not easy for her last night. She turned in her sleep quite a lot, as she sent most of her time sleeping in a normal bed instead of being in her capsule. Every night was hard to get any sleep and once she got out of bed and ate a night time snake before going back to bed.
" what's wrong with me?" Questioned Maria to herself in the early mornings of the very next day.

She rubbed her eyes and she ran her fingers in her hair. She was then too tried to go back upstairs and so she fell asleep with her head resting on her arms on top of the counter.  Soon the rest of the Davenports came into the room getting ready for some breakfast. And once they got there, it was Chase who saw Maria sleeping on the countertop, with her head resting.

Chase decided that he should wake her up and so he did,  he slightly gave her shoulders a little shake and Maria woke once again and smiled to see Chase was the one who woke her up.
" hey, it's time for school come on" Chase said as he gave her a little kiss on the cheek. Maria smiled and then relived with
" thanks, and by the way..." She got up and kissed Chase on the lips. The others made disgusted expressions and Adam pretended to vomit.  

As the two love birds broke apart, they both laughed secretly to each other. Chase and Maria didn't mind what others thought, they were just happy that they were together. So when they packed and gotten ready for school, the Davenports and Maria went through their day, through all their classes, but there was one thing that kept going through Maria's mind was those "Game Changers". Maria thought hard.

" what do they want from me? I've got nothing" asked Maria to herself. As the school bell rang for the end of the school day, Bree got her bag an said
" well I'm off to see my friends. We're going to be talking about the dance. Well see yeah" and so she waved goodbye to her brothers and to Maria and off she went. As they got home, Leo and Adam went down to the lab and went to do some more arguing about the "dates" for the dance.

This left Maria ad Chase alone in the living to themselves. Leo and Adam went down to the lab to work on other things and the dance, whereas Bree had went over to her friends house to work on their school who were also discussing the dance.
" I'm so happy that we finally have time to ourselves"
" actually we only have less then a few hours... But who's counting?"  Said Chase as he kissed Maria on her forehand. They both soon fell asleep into each other's arms.

It was only then that the sound of an alarm came through the lab and Maria fell off the sofa. Chase had also got the same look of shock on both of their faces. Suddenly, a scream came from down stairs and smoke began to make its way towards them. Both Chase and Maria looked into each other's eyes in horror and so they got up an rushed down to the Lab below.

As they got down to the Lab, they saw only smoke everywhere and once the smoker clears they saw Leo and Adam, their faces covered with ashes.
" what's happened in here?" Asked Maria as she strolled over to where Leo and Adam where sitting, care not to step in the broken glass on the floor. Leo and Adam looked at each other for a while before sighing and Leo said
" well, we were trying to experiment with something then... BANG! It didn't go so well..." He said as he turned around the half ash covered Lab.

Chase frowned and strolled over to where they all sat and said
" what will Mr Davenport say? He'll go ballistic! Mad even"
Chase didn't say another word, he just went to Maria's side and had flung his arms on her shoulders. Maria then go up quickly, so that Chase's arm flung back towards him.
" what? What's happening? Please tell me you've got an idea?" Said Leo looking pleased. He knew that when ever Maria did that, she has a brilliant plan, and it always works( sometimes anyway).
" we can use our bionics to clear this place up and Mr Davenport would never notice..."
The boys told up with glee in their faces. But she wasn't finished yet.
" or we can tidy this up without using any of our bionics"
The guys groaned in despair. Maria rolled her eyes and then said
" why are you groaning for Leo, you don't even have bionics"
" oh yeah, I just don't like cleaning and besides if anything goes wrong, it's Adam's turn to clear it" replied Leo as he got off the stool and was about to walk off when Chase and Adam said together:
" wait a minute, it's was defiantly your turn"

And so Leo had to just turn back and with more eye rolling, Leo got a broom and cloths from the supply closet and tides up before Mr Davenport noticed anything. And just like nothing had happened, the guys and Maria all went back up stairs and waited for Donald to  come home with Tasha.

Once they did came home, they both found them asleep on the armchairs and sofa. Both Donald and Tasha smiled and soon enough both of them tip toed silently so they won't wake up.  As Bree retuned home from her friends house, she too walked inside to mind her brothers and her friend sleeping, so like Tasha and Donald, she simply walked passed them all in tip toes and tried not to wake anyone up. This was in fact the most quite time the Davenport resident has ever been. It was so peaceful, so calm until unfamiliar voices soon disturbed the peaceful mood of the sleeping Lab Rats.
