Geneva looked at Robert and tried to say something but Robert was quick to cut her off.
"I have heard you. I thought you knew better than this..."
"Catherine knows Leo. She is also one of the three employees who were working at that moment. You don't know about this because I was the one who took care of it."
Robert looked at Catherine before he looked at his grandmother.
"I was working at that time. I was the one who called you..."
Robert looked at Catherine and looked ashamed. "I am so sorry. I shouldn't have reacted this way..."
"It's Ok, Robert. I know you only come to know about me when your granny rehired me. But Geneva..." Catherine looked at Geneva now. "...you know I would have kept this secret if you hadn't hired me. It is the part of the job..."
"I know Catherine. But I want you to talk to your daughter and make her see that Leo would have approached him with the intention of harming us."
"My daughter is very close to me. She always share everything with me. I still have doubts that Sarah would date someone like Leo. Or not tell me about it. I always ask her if she has found someone but she tells me she hasn't..."
Robert sighed and told Catherine. "This is for sure that Sarah and Leo were seeing each other. I only knew her as Valerie's friend at that time. But now learning that you already had been a loyal employee I hope that you teach your daughter well. I have talked to your daughter and she has told me she isn't in contact with him anymore. But if you see Leo getting in touch with Sarah, you must inform us. No matter how small that interaction is. Even if it is just a doubt..."
"I get it,..." Catherine told Robert before she looked back at Geneva.
"I think I should go home and see my daughter right away. I can't stand still and not do anything about it. I can't imagine my daughter with someone like Leo. She is educated and talented but she is emotional and vulnerable too."
Geneva was quick to hold Catherine's hand and tell her. "Yes, of course, you must go and tell me everything about it. You know we are a family here Catherine. You can always trust me. You take care of my family's interest and I will do the same if it ever came to your daughter's interest."
"Thank you, Geneva..." Catherine said before taking her leave.
Geneva asked one of her drivers to drop Catherine to her place. And, Catherine was worried all the way back to her home. She still couldn't believe what it meant. How could her daughter date someone like as vile as Leo? And, how could she keep a secret like this from her mom.
Robert waited around to have some hearty breakfast with his granny. He couldn't help ask his granny. "You said something like keeping her daughter's interest. What if it comes at a point where we have to throw her daughter under the bus? Do you think she will still stand beside us?" Geneva smiled at Robert's question.
"I didn't take you as a fool. Loyalty is never cheap Robert. If we don't match the energy, others will take the notes. And, they will know what to do. You don't want that. When someone gives us loyalty we try to protect their interest with all we have. And, I am sure Catherine will find a way. I don't think her daughter will be stupid but Catherine is not. And, she is very much able to comprehend who did what. If it ever comes to throwing her daughter under the bus, we will have to show Catherine that we did everything we could. And, that will be because we will. Or you can never expect any of your other employees to stay loyal to you. Never ever attack your employee's child, Robert. At least if you can help it."
Robert didn't know how to tell his grandmother but he still had his suspicions about this situation. He didn't want to trust this girl, Sarah. He didn't know Catherine was the one who informed his grandmother about Leo's plans. But Leo must remember it all. He didn't choose Catherine's daughter for nothing. He knew what he was doing.
