The next morning as Cathy walked down the stairs of that led to the Gryffindor common room, she was stopped in her tracks by the sight of Regulus Black waiting at the end. He attempted not to look uncomfortable as several other Gryffindors walked past and gave him looks that made it clear just out of place it was for him to be there.
When Regulus caught sight of Cathy, his eyes brightened. A simple grin appeared on his lips.
"Good morning." Regulus greeted her.
Cathy reached the final steps of the staircase and smiled at Regulus.
"You know just because we're...together doesn't mean you have to escort me to the Great Hall every day." She told him.
"I know." Regulus told her. "But I do enjoy not having to hide that I'm your boyfriend.
Cathy stiffened a bit as Regulus took her hand into his and led the way to the Great Hall.
"So, what have we learned since last night?" Regulus started another subject for conversation.
"Remus is a werewolf, Peter is victim of circumstance, and Sirius spends years in Azkaban for a crime he didn't commit." Cathy listed.
Regulus smirked. "Is it bad that I somewhat enjoy that last one a little?"
"I'd say yes but you're talking to the girl that despite learning that her nephew is orphaned with cruel muggles, was just a teeny tiny bit pleased to learn that karma caught up with her brother."
"You two deserve each other." Regulus and Cathy turned to see Lily giving them a very judgmental look.
"I'm sorry that you died." Cathy said defensively. "But James spends most of his time pissing people off. With the war just around the corner I think we know that there would people just gunning for him."
Lily rolled her eyes and pushed both Cathy and Regulus forward. "Come on lovebirds. Let's get to the hall before all the fruit is eaten."
As three wizards were pushed forward and walking at a quick pace. A familiar face past them standing completely still.
Cathy and Regulus made eye contact with the person and he did with them as well. As he walked past them, Cathy and Regulus tuned to themselves before stopping and turning around abruptly only to find no one there.
"What?" Lily asked puzzled.
"Ryan." Cathy said. "He was here. Just now."
"What? That's impossible." Lily told her. "He wouldn't have been born yet.
"I saw him too." Regulus said.
Lily stared at the pair briefly. "Maybe you two need to eat something." She suggested.
