Y/n had spent the past week doing everything she could to avoid Jungkook.
If he came back late at night, she made sure she was already asleep. If he left early in the morning, she stayed in bed until she knew he was gone.
Even during the day, she had somehow found herself disappearing whenever she sensed that she might end up alone with him.
She didn't want to talk about that night. She didn't even want to think about it.
It had been a mistake. At least, that was what she kept telling herself. They had both been drunk, emotions had been running high, and for a moment, she had allowed herself to forget everything else that was happening around her.
That was all it was, a moment of weakness.
Y/n sat on the edge of her bed, pulling her hair back into a loose ponytail as she glanced at the time. She still had some time before her training with Kevin, but instead of getting ready immediately, she found herself staring blankly at her phone, her fingers idly moving across the screen without really looking at anything.
Her mind had been unusually crowded lately. The strange things she had been discovering about her own past kept circling through her thoughts, along with the upcoming ball that was now only two weeks away.
The closer it got, the more uneasy she felt about everything that was waiting on the other side of it.
She hadn't even realized how long she had been sitting there until her phone suddenly started ringing.
Sera.
Y/n answered the call, placing the phone beside her as she finally got up to get ready for training.
"I have something to tell you."
Sera's voice immediately came from the phone, making Y/n pause as she glanced at the screen.
"Tell me what?"
There was a brief silence on the other end before Sera spoke again, sounding suspiciously pleased with herself.
"I did something."
Y/n stopped what she was doing.
"That sentence never ends well."
"Shut up and listen."
Y/n rolled her eyes, sitting back down on the edge of the bed, ready to listen to whatever her best friend wanted to spill.
"You know your bodyguard? I found his social."
"Kevin?"
"Yes. Well, I was a bit hesitant to text him through his number, so I stalked him on Instagram."
Y/n stared at the screen for a moment before a small smile appeared on her face.
"Don't tell me you slid into his DMs?"
"I prefer to call it making an introduction."
Y/n couldn't help but laugh at that. She already knew Sera well enough to understand what this meant.
Sera had always been like this. She liked men, she liked attention, and she had never really been the type to overthink whether something was going anywhere before deciding to have some fun.
"So you're trying to date him now?"
"No. Absolutely not."
"Then what are you doing?"
"I mean, you know, that man is attractive."
That answer didn't surprise Y/n at all. She knew Sera wasn't suddenly looking for a serious relationship. If she found someone attractive, she flirted. If they flirted back, she entertained it.
