XI - Sunshine after the Storm

No matter how strongly Zach declined the offer, Josh insisted on driving him home. There was simply no way Josh would let Zach go home by himself after seeing him cry. Josh was simply too worried.

"This is where you live?" Josh asked as he stopped in front of an apartment complex just a few blocks away from Golden Cross Hospital, an expensive private hospital.

"Yes. Why, is something wrong with this place?" Zach asked.

"No. It's just that, didn't you live near the city hospital when we were in college?" Josh asked.

"Oh... You remember. That makes me really happy." Zach replied with a genuine smile.

"I told you, I'm starting to remember. Bit by bit." Josh admitted. "So, what's with you and hospitals? Why do you always live near one?" Josh asked curiously.

Zach sighed. "I already told you the reason before. You just forgot about it. Well, since you drove me home and I'm in a good mood, I'll tell you. It's a deal I made with my parents. Basically, they would only allow me to live independently if I live near..." Zach paused. "...near where my doctor is working." Zach said slowly and carefully. "Right... that's it."

"What's that...? That sounds too suspicious." Josh complained.

"What are you talking about?" Zach said, acting oblivious.

"I'm not gullible. You paused. You obviously took time to think about your answer. You're trying to hide something, aren't you? What is it? Why do you need to live near your doctor? What are you trying to hide? Tell me." Josh insisted as he looked at Zach in the eyes with such intensity.

Zach felt pressured, but he couldn't tell Josh the reason behind his parents' condition. Jamie Dalton, Zach's current physician and childhood friend that's like an older brother to him, was working at the city hospital when he was in college. At present, Jamie is a tenured doctor at Golden Cross. Zach's parents insists that he lives where Jamie works, to have someone they trust to watch over him.

There was no way Zach could tell Josh about that. Even though Josh lost some of his memories, his reaction towards Jamie was still the same. When Jamie visited Zach at the studio, Josh was really angry when he Jamie and Zach close, and it was the same back when they were still in college. Ever since then, Josh was very jealous of Jamie. At one point, Josh even admitted that he hates the idea of another guy being closer to Zach than he is.

It was sweet and flattering for Zach, but it can also cause chaos. Josh was really angry when he first found out about Zach's living arrangement back in college. For about a week, Josh was in a bad mood. Zach didn't want to go through that, especially since he and Josh was just starting all over again.

Being treated like a child is something that Zach hates, but he didn't have any choice but to agree to the deal his parents made. More than anyone else, Zach knew his own condition, and he knew that it would be catastrophic if he was left alone with no one watching over him.

"I'll tell you... some other time..." Zach replied nervously.

"What? I knew it... you are trying to hide something. Hey, I just agreed on being yours, do you want me to change my mind this soon?" Josh said threateningly.

"No." Zach replied instinctively in an instant. "Hey, you already agreed to it. I'm making you mine. You can't take that back." Zach complained childishly.

"Then tell me. Why are you always living near a hospital?" Josh asked again.

Zach sighed. He was really confused. "I..." He hesitated. "I'll tell you if you sleep with me tonight." He said and then grinned.
