IX - Warmth in the Cold Night

Josh couldn't let go of Zach's hand at all. When they returned to the camp grounds for lunch, Josh was holding Zach's hand tightly. When club members were on sight, Zach suddenly stopped walking.

Zach's face was bright red and his head was lowered down. Josh instantly knew that Zach was feeling really shy at that moment. He must be really scared what everyone in the club would think once they saw the two of them holding hands.

He was moving way too fast for Zach, that Josh understood. He took everything into consideration and let go of Zach's hand. Then, he wrapped his arm around Zach's shoulders. He just felt empty, letting go of Zach.

They walked up to camp, many of the club members were already having their lunch. "Oh, you're here. Are you two hungry?" Naomi asked. She seemed to be in a good mood, and Josh was quite surprised that she didn't pull him and Zach apart.

"Wait at our tent, I'll get us lunch." Josh said as she tapped Zach at the shoulder.

Zach nodded with a small. "I'll hold your camera for you..." Zach offered with a smile and Josh gladly handed Zach his camera.

"What's wrong with you?" Josh asked Naomi directly.

"What are you talking about?" She asked as started serving Josh lunch.

"That whole attitude of yours? You didn't even try to pull me away from Zach." Josh said.

"How can I do that when I can see Zach happily smiling from miles away?" Naomi said with exaggeration. "I saw you two holding each other's hands. Zach looked a bit embarrassment, but he looked really happy. Both of you are my friends, and if you two makes each other happy, then I won't be a buzzkill." Naomi said. "Now tell me, what exactly is Zach to you?" Naomi asked in a serious tone. "If you're only experimenting or curious, then stop now. If you're not serious about him, then don't give him false hope and stop sending him mix signals. Zach is innocent, he have experience in flirting and playing around."

"Honestly, I'm not sure of what I feel for Zach, exactly. I do know one thing, though; he makes me extremely happy and I want to make him happy as well." Josh replied honestly.

Naomi sighed. "I guess that's fine for now." She said. "I won't stop you two, but don't take advantage of him, I'll still be watching you." Naomi handed Josh his and Zach's lunch. "Needless to say, you better not try anything to him tonight." She warned.

"Hey, what do you think of me? I'm no sexual predator." Josh complained.

Zach was reviewing his camera when Josh arrived at their tent. He quickly turned it off and then out it on the side. Clearly, he didn't want Josh to see the photos that he had taken. It made Josh a little bit guilty, since he had saw everything.

"Let's eat." He said with a smile.

"Mmm..." Zach agreed with a shy smile.

Everything was perfect. Josh never thought that he could feel that happy and contented with anyone at all. When he was going around flirting with any girl he deemed attractive, Josh would get bored of them easily. That was not the case for Zach. It was not Josh's first time dating someone innocent, but it was his first time being with the same sex.

At first he was really afraid, really doubtful, but Zach's precious smile simply wiped all of those doubts and fears away.

Josh woke up from his hypnotic trance and he simply couldn't believe what he remembered. "I made the first move..." He said in disbelief.
