Glimmer

"Clove, I'm serious." I say as I eye my best friend up and down. "You're not wearing that," I state as I push her back into her room.

If you're wondering about what I don't want her to wear, she's wearing a plain, green t-shirt with blue jeans and an old, worn-out pair of ugly Converse high-tops.

She lets out a groan and walks over to her walk-in closet. "Glimmer," she whines.

"Clove," I mock, but can't help but laugh a little.

"Okay, I won't wear those," she says. "I'll wear these." She holds up some black flats.

"Yes!" I exclaim and she pulls the old, raggedy shoes off, along with her socks and puts the flats on.

"Better?" She asks.

"Yes, a lot better." I say and we laugh.

"Come on, let's get to school," she says, grabbing her backpack. Right at that moment, Katniss, another best friend, texts.

Kat: Hey, Glim, wanted to let ya know Peeta's picking me up for school.

I smile. Peeta is Katniss's boyfriend, but Katniss's best friend Gale, the second hottest guy in our group and Katniss's best friend, has a huge crush on her. I mean huge. I text her back, walking down Clove's stairs with her holding onto my wrist:

Okay, Girl, have fun. ;)

I hit send and put my phone in my pocket. We walk out the door and to my silver BMW and get in. When we are settled in, Clove immediately starts playing with the radio, looking for a good radio station while I pull out of the driveway and onto the road. She gasps when she finds a song we both like and starts singing along.

"You are my fire," she sings. "The one desire." I smile and think about joining in. "Believe when I say," she nudges me with her elbow. "That I want it that way."

"But, we are two worlds apart," I sing. "Can't reach to your heart," I laugh. "When you say, that I want it that way."

"Tell me why," Clove sings.

"Ain't nothing but a heartache," we sing in unison now.

"Tell me why," Clove sings again.

"Ain't nothing but a mistake," we both chuckle. "Tell me why," we break.

"I never wanna hear you say," Clove sings.

"I want it that way," we both sing in unison again. We laugh as we pull into the school's parking lot.

As soon as we get out of the car, we're surrounded by our friends. "Hey, Glim and Clove." Finnick, the first hottest guy in our group greets us.

"Hey, Fin." Clove and I say in unison and laugh.

"So," Gale slings an arm around my shoulders. "How's my favorite girl doing this fine morning?" He asks and I laugh again.

"I'm fine, Gale." I say, slipping under his arm. "Now, stop doing that or people will think we're dating again."

"Oh come on, Glim, you know you still want all this." He motions to his body.

"Ha!" I let out a loud laugh. "In your dreams, Pretty boy." I say and walk away with Clove.

"Hey, Clove!" I hear Johanna Mason, one of my other best friends, shouts out from behind us. Clove slowly turns to face her with her eyebrows raised. "Cinna said he needs to talk to you," she says.

"Shit!" Clove exclaims quietly. "I forgot to talk to him about that project yesterday." She says then rushes into the school.

"So, Glimmer," Johanna starts. "How are ya?" She slings her arm around my shoulders.

"I'm good, but I'm pretty sure Gale still has a thing for me, though." I say and she chuckles.

She shakes her head. "I doubt it, Glim, I think he's too wrapped up in his little crush on Kat."

"Good, because, I could not put up with Haw-whore again." I say.

"You really hate him, don't you?" She asks.

"No, I don't hate him, we're friends."I say. "He just tried to take things a little too far, that's all." I shrug.

She smiles. "Well, that's good that you don't hate him, because I do." She says and opens the door to the school.

"Why do you hate him so much?" I chuckle.

She rolls her eyes. "Because, he's an asshole." We both smile.

"Well, you act so fake around him." I say with a laugh.

"Really?" She furrows her eyebrows and crosses her arms over her chest. "How so?"

I open my locker. "You act like you have a total crush on him," I playfully roll my eyes. "Two,-" I look down the hall and see a tall boy with caramel colored hair and a scrawny build, but a handsome face, walking down the hall. "Holy cow!" I exclaim.

"What?" Johanna asks and turns around and looks at him. "Really, Glim?" She says as she's turns back towards me, rolling her eyes.

"Yes," I say, blushing a bit.

"Oh my God," she groans and turns on her heels to go to her locker. "I'll see you in first period." She says and waves at me from behind her.

"Okay, see ya, Jo!" I shout as I slam my locker shut with my hip.

I walk a little ways down the hall and collide with something, or someone. "Hey, watch it." I say, holding my knee.

"I'm sorry," I hear a smooth voice say and I look up, I see a gorgeous, blond, blue-eyed masterpiece holding his hand out to help me up. "You okay?" He asks as soon as he pulls me up and I'm on my feet.

"Am now," I try to flirt, winking at him.

He returns the wink. "Well, it looks to me like you're fine." He says and I'm guessing he's flirting too.

"So are you," I say.

"Thanks," he says and walks back down the hall.

"Wait!" I shout out to him. "What's your name?" I ask.

He turns on heels, facing me but he's now walking backwards. "You'll find that out soon, won't ya?" He asks and turns back around. I smile as I watch him disappear into the sea of teenagers and I walk to first period.
