Clove
"Just don't let it happen again!" Cinna calls out as I walk out the door.
"I won't!" I call back and slam into something hard.
"Oh, excuse me." An angelic voice says. I look up and see a boy, an angel, standing there and find myself eying him up and down, scanning his body quietly with my eyes.
He smirks. "Like what you see?" He asks, holding his hand out to me and I take it. He lifts me off the ground and I dust myself off.
"Yes," I accidentally blurt out. "I mean," I start. "Um," I say, looking around frantically and he raises his eyebrows. I slap my forehead with the palm of my hand. "Oh, God." I mutter and feel my cheeks beginning to heat up.
"Oh," he says. "I see." He slaps my back. "It's alright, there's already been one girl I've ran into that couldn't keep her eyes off of me, and now, you."
Jerk, I think as he takes his hand off of my back.
"Well," I look at him. "I'm sure she saw how much of a jerk you are." I retort.
He narrows his eyes, which are a beautiful shade of blue and I have to look away from them before getting lost in them. "Nice name calling, Short stuff." He says, making me fume with anger.
I bite my lip, a habit I have when it comes to talking to someone I don't know. Especially a guy as good-looking as him. "If you want to stay alive, don't call me short again." I say. Yes, I am aware that I am short but I don't need the Devil to tell me who or what I am.
He clenches his jaw, clearly annoyed, and glares sharply into my eyes. It's like fire staring into ice between his blue orbs and my brown ones. "Really?" He asks. "How are you planning on killing me, Little Missy?"
I frown and cross my arms over my chest and eye him up and down again. "I have my sources," I say and he mirrors my expression and crosses his arms over his chest, as well. The gesture makes me feel uncomfortable and I end up scanning his body again and gulp; I'm completely turned on by the action he just pulled. This guy was attractive and I knew it, I just didn't want to admit it.
"Oh yeah?" He says. "What's those sources?" He smirks.
I'm caving in, I'm losing it. Losing it! I gulp again, my eyes darting around every which way to avoid eye contact with him. I finally decide to focus on his nose, because there is no way I'll be able to look into his eyes without getting lost in them. I roll my eyes and pierce my lips together. "Look," I say. "I have to get to class, and you're just wasting my time." I shift my position to putting all of my weight on my right foot. "So, if you would ever so kindly move, that would be awesome."
He narrows his eyes. "Have you ever thought" -he puts his finger on his chin, like he's thinking. "That maybe, you could go around me?" He gestures behind him and I'm stumped on what to do or say. "Just a suggestion." He shrugs.
"Well," I say awkwardly then clear my throat. "Thank you for making me late."
"Oh, you're quite welcome." He says, smirking.
Smartass, I think.
I fake smile and start to walk around him. "I enjoyed the little chat," I say sarcastically.
