17:
"Bruce, Bruce, Bruce still always late." Dolton sighs with a shake of his head like he disapproves.
Daddy comes to a stand beside me motioning Eli and Matty to step back. "Dolton still a little b**** as always." Daddy says in his calm cool voice and this is how I know hes mad really mad.
Dolton narrows his eyes at my father and then they shift to me and I shoot him a beaming smirk. "Did that upset the baby?" I coo and he takes a deep breath.
"Your the only baby here." he shoots back and I chuckle very amused.
"That's the best you got D. I thought you were better than that." I sing trying to get him all riled up. The more out of control you are the worse you fight. "Your momma could come up with a better line."
When I say your momma he trys jumping at me but one of his goons -I think his name is West- grabs him holding him back. "That's not a good idea man." West mumbles holding him for a second before he lets him go.
"I'm cool man i'm cool." Dolton says shaking himself off and I watch him amused.
"Okay." Daddy says getting bored. "Can we just get this over with? I'm tired of the stalling and i'd really like to get home and go to sleep."
"This wasn't our plan." Dolton admits and I feel daddy shift beside me. "We planned on snatching the girl but you always have to ruin everything Bruce." They all start backing up toward the van and state. "We'll see you again." Before they jump in and the van pulls out of the lot.
Without looking at anyone I make my way to Eli's car. I stop at his driver side and hold my hand out. "Give me the keys." I state and he gives me a confused look but throws them over.
"I'll be at the house." Daddy says making his way back around the theater. I nod at him telling him I understand and open the drivers door getting in.
"Blake." Eli says and then Matty says it after him when I don't respond. I just look out of the front window the whole time with a blank expression on my face. If Dolton and his goons would have taken me they would have killed Matty and Eli right n the spot with no remorse and I couldn't let that happen.
They could have died because of me and I have only one answer. When we pull up to the house daddy is already there and the old neighbor lady is waving as she walks down the drive. I jump out and go into the house with the boys close behind.
"Blake stop." Eli says grabbing onto my elbow. I stop but keep my back to him and he sighs loudly turning me to him. I narrow my eyes at him a second before going blank again. "Don't do this Blake." he pleads looking hurt and I sigh rolling my eyes. "Just talk to me."
"There's nothing to talk about Eli. We're leaving that's it." I say shrugging. "I will never see you again never talk to you again and then maybe then you'll be safe." I yank my arm away from him and hand him his keys motioning for him to go back out of the door. "By Eli, Matty." I say and shut the door in their faces.
I lock the door and bang my head against it in anger. After a few deep breaths I turn and see my daddy standing there with his face morphed in sadness. That's when I feel a tear stream down my face. For the loss of the man I loved and the loss of my best friend.
For the loss of the great church and the loss of the great people I learned to like. For the loss of the place that finally felt like home. "Oh Tiger." Daddy says softly coming to wrap me into a big hug.
I let him hug me for a second before I rip away from him and wipe my lonely tear heading up the stairs. "Let's get packed."
"You know we can stay Blake." Daddy calls after me and I shake my head going to get packed.
Staying means more danger for them and I wont put them through that.
