Chapter 24

Chapter Twenty Four

"HE WHAT!?" I hear Shika yelling from downstairs. It has been a few weeks since I returned. Jin is in a coma. When not at the hospital I am sitting in this room of mine, filled with all of my memories with him; both good and bad. "SHIN!"

She yells until I sigh and plod down the stairs with the baby who is now a year old. "Momma." He giggles and stretches out for his mother. She takes him and hands me the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hello, this is Dr. Kilo. We need you to come to the hospital immediately. It is about our patient Jin."

With fear in my heart I grab the keys and rush to the hospital. I don't even have a driver's license. "I am here, what is the problem?"

"Please follow me." A nurse takes me to an examining room and we watch the room Jin is in. Doctors and nurses are there trying to speak to Jin who is yelling out my name in his sleep.

Hearing his voice after so long gets to me and I have to quickly wipe my eyes. "What's wrong?"

"He is probably having a memory or emotional conflict in his mind. He is in a state we can't help him, but hearing your voice may help. Can you go in their?"

"What do you mean?"

"Are you able to handle it without breaking down or us having to drag you out? Most people can't do it because it becomes too far for their emotions to handle. Can you take it?"

"Yes..." She lets me go to him and the doctors are holding him down as he continues to scream my name. Tears stream down his face and my heart sinks. Everyone moves out of my way and I hurry to his side grabbing him. He struggles. "JIN! Jin, calm down. Jin, it's me. It's shin, calm down Jin. Jin..." He calms down hugging me in his sleep whispering my name. "It's okay Jin, I'm right here."

After a while of me holding him till he is silent the nurses try to lay him down but he struggles against him. "Could you lay him down Shin-san?"

"Yeah, it's okay Jin. It's only me." I lay him gently speaking to him quietly. I lie next to him on the bed until there is only the doctor left. "I'll stay here tonight. Is that okay?"

"Of course, but tomorrow we are going to have to do tests on him."

"I understand, thank you."

All night Jin clings to me, it seems as though he is just having a bad dream. I try not to think he is still in a coma while seeing or thinking who knows what about me.

I can't sleep well and the storm outside doesn't help. Early morning s nurse comes in with a blanket. "You're probably cold. One blanket isn't enough on stormy nights here." She smiles and places the blanket on me. "Do you mind if I sit?" I shake my head and she sits near us and watches. "I must say, you are very strong. I have never seen anyone like you in this situation in all my years."

I laugh quietly. "Really..."

"Yes, absolutely. We are very proud of how you handled the situation. Have you ever thought of becoming a doctor?"

"I study it in America, but I really can't. I promised to join the family business."

"Ah, yes... I understand completely. I had forgotten momentarily you are the heir to Zendinghein corporations. Forgive me..."

I smile and shake my head. "It's fine. Right now it's only a name. We are in your care, its best to treat us like everyone else."
She smiles gently and her eyes look to the clock on the wall.

"Well, it is time for me to go. I have to do my rounds. Sleep well, and I wish you all the best." She bows and shuts the door without another word.

I look up at Jin's face. He no longer has his arms around me and his body shows no hint of earlier's encounter. He is just a body once again. One that's soul is unreachable to me. "I am not calm Jin. Inside I am crumbling and falling apart."
