Chapter Nineteen

I wake up and it is still dark. The clock says it is midnight and I sigh. I turn to my other side and close my eyes quickly, not aware until I feel an arm around me that Jin is there. I get up and look around. It isn’t my room, why is he in here?

I quietly and softly get out of the bed grabbing my pillow. I sneak out of the room and head to mine. I hear a voice and the door to the room I was just in opens. Jin glares at me and I quickly shut the door locking it.

“Open the door Shin. I won’t do anything. I want to talk to you.”

“No.”

“Please?”

“I already said no. I don’t want to talk to you so go away.”

“What did I do?” We are both quiet. “Shin, come on… I understand you’re mad about earlier today, and I am sorry, but aren’t you overreacting?”

“Overreacting… Now I am overreacting.” I scowl. “If I open this door I am sleeping with Shika.”

He is quiet. “Alright Shin… I’ll see you for breakfast.” He waits for my reply but after a minute gives up. “Goodnight…”

The next morning Jin doesn’t look too happy but he smiles for my parents. I think I know him too well to know he is mad at me. Oh well, I am mad at him.

“Good morning Shin.” Everyone but Jin says.

“Good morning everyone.” I sit in my spot next to Jin and we don’t look at each other. “When are you leaving?”

“Tonight.”

“Okay…” We continue to eat in silence and everyone, including my butler and maids, watch us carefully. “If you could please excuse me. I think I am going to go out with a few friends today.”

“But Shin, the doctors coming today. You said you would stay with me.” Shika pouts.

I smile gently. “I will come back in time. Don’t worry, I don’t forget things or break promises.” I say louder than I should.

Jin ignores that quick remark but everyone else can feel the tension.

“I heard people running around the halls last night…” Mother says giving me a questioning look.

“It’s a figment of your imagination mother, everyone one was asleep in different rooms.” Shika gives me a quick look and nod of the head.

Jin isn’t happy… “Well then, I will make sure you are back in time. Are you going with Joeim?”

“No, with Dina. I mean, other people are going out with girls and not coming back on time. I might as well have some fun as well.”

Jin slams his fork down and stands up glaring at me. His gaze makes me want to cower down, but I will not let him get away with it. I smelled the sweet stench of cheap perfume on him last night. He can’t trick me. “Please excuse me Mr. and Mrs. Zendinghein. I am afraid I have to pack up and get ready to leave. If you would please excuse me. In case I don’t see you again, thank you for your help and for taking in my sister and brother in-law. I couldn’t ask for more.”

“Of course.”

“Our pleasure…” Father finishes mother’s sentence.

Jin glares at me one more time and I look away snobbish to show I don’t care. He scurries out of the dining hall with an attitude and everyone looks to me. “What...”

“That was uncalled for Shin.” Mother and father answer in unison.

“What he did deserved worse than a few petty sentences of what I said.”

“He is a big boy, you don’t own him Shin. He can do as he pleases.”

Right, we never officially started dating. He can hang and sleep with whoever he wants. It doesn’t have to be me.

“Whatever, I am leaving. I’ll be back for you Shika.”

“Okay Shin… Be safe and careful.” I nod. “Who are you really going out with?”

“Cousin Joeim…” I whisper and leave the room.
