Chapter 13

Chapter Thirteen

“You may stay here until Jin returns, but don’t count me responsible for anything that happens to you.” The woman from before says leading me to a huge room.

“Thank you.” She turns to leave. “Umm… Can I ask you something?”

“What?” She seems nicer than before.

“Are you really Jin’s fiancé?” She watches me a minute before smiling.

“No. I was supposed to be but he is in love with someone and I refuse to be a replacement. I just wanted to make her mad. Why do you ask?”

“No reason, I just wanted to know. I have known Jin for a long time and he never spoke of anything like that to me. But that shouldn’t surprise me; he doesn’t tell me a lot of things.”

We are quiet while I try to keep my relief inside. “What did you say your name is?”

“Shin. Shin Zendinghein.” I realize then I made a mistake and I think she sees it on my face because she laughs.

“I won’t tell. It’s alright. I thought you were him…” She goes to the door. “I’ll have someone get you when it is time to eat.”

“Thank you.” She leaves and I sigh looking around. This doesn’t seem like a room you would have a guest sleep in. Papers are on a desk and clothes fill the drawers. Tempted, I don’t touch anything but the clothes. I don’t want to be involved in the mafia more than I have to. I sleep on the huge and comfy bed until someone bangs on the door and I jerk up.

I open it a little angry and glare at the man who got me. He looks away and leads me to the dining room. People are laughing and drinking, you wouldn’t tell a difference if it was a party after work or a family. But they do say mafias are family.

The woman laughs and looks at me. “Sit over here.” She yells. That night I eat and then do nothing but drink. I’ve never been able to have this experience before. I don’t care anymore tonight, I am getting drunk.
