Chapter Six

“My name is Shin. I’m a friend of Jin. Is he here?”

The gate opens and out runs his sister. She looks at me and takes me inside. “Leave us.” Once they are gone she looks worried. “Why did you come here? It is so dangerous for you to be here.”

“Where is Jin?”

She flinches and looks at the door. Once making sure no one came in she grabs my hand and looks me straight in the eyes.

“Listen to me. This is no place for a rich boy like you, pampered all his life. You need to stay away. I don’t know where my brother is but he wouldn’t want you here. Don’t come around here ever again unless you want to be hurt.”

She stands up and goes to the door ready to leave. “No.”

She turns around. “I’m sorry?”

“I said no. I know this isn’t a safe place for me to be. Do you think I haven’t thought of that already? I am risking my life and family by coming here. I know he wouldn’t want me here, but I will not give up. He has disappeared without an explanation. He has left me all alone once again. I don’t know where he is, what he is doing, who he is with. If in the end he shoves me away, I will let him. But I want to make sure he is okay. Until I do find out I will not stop, I will go to any mafia I can. I will run away from home and look for him myself. But I will not, and never ask me again to throw him away and forget everything. He is my best friend. I would do anything for him.”

“Even if you die?”

“Even if I die.”

She smiles slightly and gives me a look much like his. “Alright, I will help you. But that is if you are willing to leave home and everyone you love. Be at risk in your life at every turn. Are you willing to give it all up for him?”

I am silent but sure. “Yes I am…”

“Good. We leave in an hour.”
