My head snapped around, a beautiful creature catching my eye. Standing there in all its glory was the unicorn I had been searching for all along. "You are the chosen one." The familiar voice whispered.

"What do you mean? Where's Nick?" I rushed out, wanting to get answers as soon as possible.

The horned creature stepped towards me, it's voice replying, "Your lover is safe, he's been returned safely to the school as he slept." I let out a sigh of relief. "But you, Lux, will not return."

Confusion quickly over-powered the relief. "W-what do you mean?" Fear and confusion were the most dominant emotions. The unicorn looked at me, silent for a long moment. It almost as if it was thinking.

"You, the chosen one, will not be returning to your old life. You will once again reign as Avatar, and you will discover the new lands, and find peace with the earth." It spoke.

"I'm not the Avatar, I'm his daughter. I think you're--"

The animal interupted me. "I am not mistaken, young one. You are daughter of the third Avatar, and within you, he stands. Why do you think you have so much power? Why do you think you have so strong a connection towards other elementals? Please don't tell me you actually believed you were Nick's mate? You do know that the connection wasn't love, but the chemistry between the Avatar and his followers, right?" A single tear rolled down my cheek as the mythical creature spoke to me.

"So my father, he didn't die?"

The creature shook its head. "No, he is you, and you are him. You were never born of his adoration for the human, you are simply a regeneration of him. You are your father. He 'died' the second you were 'born'. You never had a father, it was all simply a story made up to keep you safe until the time came, and now, it is time. We need an Avatar, Lux. We need our Avatar. You're the only one who can fill that place."

I took a deep breath. "So I can never have children? I can never watch my babies grow up?" I cried. "All I do is regenerate into a new person, only to grow old again? So I'll go onto a fifth, and sixth, and eightieth life? Eighty different personalities, trait sets, faces? So I will never know what I look like, as me.. I'll always just be a different person when I need to?"

 The horse-like animal simply nodded.

Something -- an emotion, maybe? -- rushed through me.

"I'll do it. You need an Avatar, and I'm it."
