CHAPTER SEVENTEEN - 'Stopping Marionette'

Freddy was in a foul mood. He was bored and trying hard not to break the tables surrounding him. Not having any night guards to kill was making his stomach squirm. He had always enjoyed the adrenaline rush, the crack of bones as they snapped and the futile attempts that they made, begging for mercy.

And now that it had been taken away, Freddy was fading. Or so, he metaphorically was. Logically, he was still there, polishing his top hat. With a yawn, he placed his hat on the table, admiring his handy work. There was a clatter of footsteps and, with an impatient growl, Freddy glowered at Bonnie. "What do you want?" He snapped. "Can't you see that I'm busy?"

Bonnie blinked, taking in the silent dining area and immobile top hat. With a shake of his head, he spoke, "Um, Marionette is about to go on a killing spree." He gulped, tugging nervously at his tie. "We think he's going to kill Mike and (your name)."

"How?" Freddy stood, pushing his top hat onto his head. "Bonnie, how did you find this out?"

"The symbol." Bonnie glanced backwards. "Marionette's symbol was painted on the walls. Drusilla found it."

"Okay." Freddy straightened to his full height. "Bonnie find Foxy and Chica. I'll grab Gold and we'll track Marionette. Where's Drusilla?"

"Heading to the office." Bonnie explained. "I'll go get Chica and then Foxy."

"Good." Freddy turned on his heels and stalked away.

Nearly two o'clock.

You can't believe that the night might actually be free of drama. It feels nice, talking to Mike like a normal person for once. Because, really, you just want to be a normal person again. To not have witnessed a death or having nearly been killed twenty odd times.

"It's too quiet." Mike says suddenly, looking up from the tablet allocated on his lap. "I'd have thought that something would be going on. Wouldn't the gang be popping in occasionally?"

You tilt your head. What was Mike talking- "Wait. It is too quiet. Mike you're right!"

Mike clambers to his feet, crossing to the left hallway and poking his head around the wall to look down the hallway. "Foxy's all quiet and Bonnie is absent."

"That's odd." You frown and chew your lip. Jumping up, you look out of the right hallway. "Nothing. No Freddy or Chica - not even the clash of pans."

Mike's face is etched with anxiety and worry. "Do you- do you think they're playing a prank on us? Or is there something going on?"

You shrug. "Mike I seriously have no idea. It could be anything."

"I'll go check." Mike stoops for a flashlight, but at the last minute, you shoot forward and grab it.

"I'm not letting you go out alone." You lift your chin in the air. "It's dangerous in here and you could get hurt."

"Sorry, (your name), but I'm going." Mike sighs. "Look. Why don't you check the cameras and keep an eye on me? And, plus, I need to use the potty."

"Potty?" You grin. "Okay, fine. But stay in the view point of the cameras, got it?"

"Got it." Mike waves and begins heading out. "See ya in the morning!"

"Bye!" You wave back, reaching for the tablet.

"Marionette?" Chica tilts her head, looking confused. "Oh, the symbol! I didn't know that was Marionette's! If I had, I would have-"

"Chica, we've just got to go get Foxy, alright?" Bonnie grabbed the chicken's arm, pulling her from the kitchen and towards Pirate Cove. "With Marionette out on a killing spree, (your name) and Mike are in danger."

"That's not a good thing." Chica shakes her head and they stop beside the starry curtains. "Who's going to get Foxy-Fox-Fox?"

"I will." Bonnie grits his teeth and steps into the cove, letting his eyes adjust to the darkness. He didn't know how Foxy survived in this place. "Foxy? You there?"

"What is it?" Foxy's form appears beside Bonnie, startling him. "I can feel that something isn't right. What's happened?"

"Marionette." Bonnie's ears twitch. "He's going on a killing spree and Freddy needs us all."

"I'm coming." Foxy growls.

"Marionette's not our only problem." Gold scratches his head sheepishly, averting his gaze from Freddy's.

"What do you mean?" Freddy's eyes are ablaze. "What do you mean? Marionette is our problem, and now you're saying that we have another?"

"Um, yeah?" Gold grins. "Well, you could call it a problem... or you could not. I'm not really sure what side they're on so..."

"You have freaking got to be kidding me." Freddy groans.

"I'm not kidding." Gold stoops and picks up the dusty music box. "Right, let's go catch ourselves a revengeful puppet, shall we?"
