Loki and I sat on the roof with our backs to the ledge that separated the roof from the outside world. We sat side by side, his arm around my shoulders and my head on him. We were up here for about an hour. We talked about nothing in particular, but Loki told me about his childhood with Thor and Frost Giants. He told me his whole side of the story.
I never took into consideration just how betrayed Loki was. I understand.
“Loki I need to go. I was sent up here to kill you.” I said, getting up and standing. Loki did the same. I thought rapidly. How was I going to leave? I can’t just walk out… Not while Loki’s not dead. I need to lose. Dramatically, so Dad sees and I don’t have to explain anything. I looked at Loki.
“You need to throw me out a window.”
“Pardon me?”
“You need to fake fight me, and throw me out a window!” I said gesturing to the windows on the inside of the top floor.
“You won’t survive the fall. Even if you do have superhuman strength.” He said. I thought. I looked over the side of the building. There was still fighting going on.
“We can go to the second floor.” I said. Loki contemplated it. He nodded.
We went inside and to the stairs. We ran down the stairs until we reached the second floor. As soon as I flung the door open, I saw a sentinel soldier. I immediately took action. As soon as Loki ran out after me, I grabbed him and pinned him to the wall, one arm across his throat. He was about to say my name, but I put my fingers in his mouth, grabbing his lower jaw from the inside. I turned to the young soldier.
“Get out of here!”
“I can help!”
“Can’t you see I’ve got this under control? Get out!” I screamed and he hesitated before turning and running away. As soon as he was out of sight, I released Loki. I took my fingers out of his mouth and shook them in a disgusted manner. One finger was bleeding.
“You bit me!”
“You put your hand on my teeth!” He said while laughing. I gave him a death glare before laughing with him. We walked towards a large window. It was a decent distance from the ground. I took fifteen paces away from the window, prepared to run. But then I stopped.
“You have to push me.” I said. After I got my full power my eyesight was impeccable. I could see the whites of the eyes of the people on the ground. If I could see them, they could see me.
Loki came up in front of me. He looked reluctant.
“Keep them safe.” I said, referring to my family.
“I really don’t want to do this.”
“Don’t think about it. Just do it. On three.” I said. “One… two… three.”
Loki grabbed me by the waist, and sprinted towards the window. Then he threw me through the window. I felt my back shatter the glass and I saw the horror on Loki’s face when I flailed my arms and legs with the instinct to grab onto something. I let go of my bo-staff with panic, as the fall felt like forever. A scream started in my lungs and escaped my lips, without me knowing. My arms were flailing as the left side of my body struck the ground with such force that I felt every single bone on that side of my body snap under the force of teenage girl meeting concrete.
I screamed, rolling over on my right side, right arm reaching across my body to cradle my left. I felt hot tears run sideways across the bridge of my nose.
“Nate!” I screamed. I screamed his name until I heard him run over to me. I heard Emma’s footsteps too.
“Oh my god Nat.” He said, lightly touching my ribs. I screamed in pain.
